Generally, the elite Left has no self-awareness.
I’m reminded of the celebrity who said, “I don’t know how George W. Bush won. Nobody I know voted for him.”
There appears to be no sense of balance, no understanding that the world consists of equal parts.
According to the talking heads on television, a liberal activist is socially conscious; a conservative activist is a right-wing extremist. Any left-wing notion — an idea with which conservatives disagree — is just a thought; but any conservative idea — a thought which liberals oppose — is “controversial.”
The same plays out in today’s Yahoo Lifestyle article about Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka’s photos with their kids, posted to social media.
The headline reads, “Donald Trump Jr. is also getting blowback — just like Ivanka — for posting a photo with his kids.” The first two sentences:
“Hours after his younger sister Ivanka posted a much-derided photo with her son, Donald Trump Jr. is catching heat for also sharing a photo of him posing with two of his kids. The comments were calling to his attention the scary plight of the children whom immigration officials have separated from their families at the border.”
Doubtlessly, if the story had centered on the converse — let’s say, Obama and his kids, versus some sort of anti-Barack-era-government-performance content in the Comments section — the spotlight would surely have shone on racism or right-wing trolling. The same occurred when Amy Schumer, an outspoken member of the Left, scored an abysmal rating for her Netflix comedy special: so said the media, she did a great job; blame it on alt-right trolls.
In the case of the Trumps, as written about by Yahoo, it sounds as if they’re getting their just desserts. Because:
“The image, on Instagram, shows the disheveled dad up very early with daughter Chloe and son Spencer, and is captioned with a reference to bedtime fun. Although the post was littered with lots of ‘cute kids’ comments, many others Don to task, referring to the almost 1,500 children the Department of Health and Human Services may have misplaced.”
“Many others.”
Like who?
A left-wing actor:
Isn't it the just the best to snuggle your little one — knowing exactly where they are, safe in your arms? It's the best. The BEST. Right, Ivanka? Right? https://t.co/X79r8aWInc

An MSNBC host:
Dear @IvankaTrump,
No doubt you posted this while feeling the great joy of motherhood. But every mother is our sister & right now there are many in https://t.co/ysrzRfxJx8 are in a position to help.#WhereAreTheChidlren?Taking action will result in a lot more likes than this post https://t.co/hoKUBF1GPT— Stephanie Ruhle (@SRuhle) May 27, 2018
And The Hummingird, which describes itself on Twitter as “a leading member of #TheResistance on a mission to impeach Donald J. Trump.”
Dear @IvankaTrump,
Would you also love your Sunday if government authorities snatched away your sweet child and dragged him into a cold, dark detention facility?

Children are being dragged into a cold, dark detention facility? Is the government imprisoning children in mossy caves?
Are the attempts by left-wing entities raging against the Right to degrade a father and mother’s photos with their children by politicizing them really worthy of major news coverage, particularly as a sign of public revolt?
The comments, as well as the Yahoo piece, are just politics as usual.
The protest references what was explained during the April 26th Senate Homeland Security subcommittee oversight hearing thusly:
“From October to December 2017, ORR [Office of Refugee Resettlement] attempted to reach 7,635 UAC [unaccompanied alien children] and their sponsors. Of this number, ORR reached and received agreement to participate in the safety and well-being call from approximately 86 percent of sponsors. From these calls, ORR learned that 6,075 UAC remained with their sponsors. Twenty-eight UAC had run away, five had been removed from the United States, and 52 had relocated to live with a non-sponsor. ORR was unable to determine with certainty the whereabouts of 1,475 UAC.”
This issue deserves its own article, or many.
But suffice it to say, neither Donald Trump, Jr., nor Ivanka, have lost anyone’s children. Some on the Left, however, seem to have lost their mind.
P.S. Dear Yahoo News: You left out the word “took” in the second quote, and you misused the word “whom” in the first. Sincerely, Read State.
