BREAKING: MARCO RUBIO DROPS OUT OF THE RACE

After a devastating loss in Florida, Marco Rubio has announced that he is dropping out of the Republican Presidential primary. The shocking news came quickly, less than 15 minutes after the polls closed in Florida. Less than 15 minutes after the race was called for Donald Trump.

“We should have seen this coming,” said Rubio. As he spoke about the frustration of voters a Trump supporter heckled from the crowd. There was quite a stir but the speech went on. He spoke of the anger and frustration that voters have.

“There are millions of people in this country tired of being looked down on,” he said. He spoke as he often does about living paycheck to paycheck, voicing the concerns that have motivated so many Trump voters. He even addressed illegal immigration and the establishment.

He said it would have been easy to run on these issues. To run on anger. But he is proud that he did not do so.

He spoke of cronyism and the GOP establishment’s embrace of it over the needs and will of the voters.

After 8 years of Barack Obama, he said, we need a strong conservative movement. We need a vibrant conservative movement built on principles and ideas, not on anger, he said.

“We need a new political establishment,” said Marco. And certainly he wanted to be at the head of that movement. But events did not work out that way.

It was an epic speech that surely left Rubio supporters’ hearts aching for what could have been.

“After tonight it is clear that we are on the right side, this year we will not be on the winning side.”

That really said it all right there. The the moment.

“While it is not God’s plan that I be president in 2016 or maybe ever, and while today my campaign is suspended, the fact that I’ve even come this far is evidence of how special America is.”

And there you have it. Sadly.
