Asha Rangappa, a former FBI special agent, now on faculty at Yale’s Jackson Institute, and CNN analyst made a claim on Twitter that a a random twitter user was a Russian intelligence agent because “Despite being a total nobody, Steph has 286K followers. Her lame tweet is somehow very popular within seconds of her posting it.” Because in liberal land it is completely impossible for someone to disagree with you unless they’re a Russian agent. Rangappa goes on to say “Read more about Steph and her fellow trolls in Summary 1.3 of our condensed Mueller Report!” which is her website’s summary titled: Russian “Active Measures” Social Media Campaign and Criminal Charges against 13 Russian Nationals and 3 Russian Entities
(pp. 14-35,* 174*).

The accusation Rangappa came because Steph wrote “There is no such thing as a Mueller Report. Everyone saw him, he never even read the report much less wrote it.” This is a great take, and not something new, nor is it surprising that it would be popular. I have reached out to Steph but at the time of writing this article have not received a response, according to her Twitter profile she lives in California and the profile has been active since 2011, which is not typical of a “troll” account. The real question here is should we be OK with someone who works for a national media organization, and has the credentials as a former FBI special agent suggesting that people are intelligence agents working for the Russian government? Imagine the type of incitement this is, this is someone using their credentials from the FBI suggesting a random person on Twitter is potentially a national security threat, who is responsible for the potential threat that this may pose to an American citizen because some CNN analyst got butt-hurt?

Let’s not forget that CNN harassed a woman on her lawn because she shared a Facebook event supposedly created by Russian trolls, and CNN also threatened to dox (reveal the personal information) of someone for making a meme of Trump body slamming CNN. At what point does the media get held accountable not only for propagating a conspiracy that every Trump supporter is somehow a Russian agent, but their obvious suppression tactics against Trump supporters? They are sending the message that if you question their narratives, their reporting, or even ruffle their feathers a little they can threaten you.

If there are any people out there with legal experience in situations in this regard I strongly suggest someone lend their talents to this poor woman and advise her to hold CNN accountable and this woman accountable for this accusation. I can’t imagine what our nation will look like heading in to 2020 if the media allows their employees to suggest Trump supporters are national security threats. It is time we speak out on this behavior because it will only get worse.
