The Watercooler ~ Obama home shopping and campaigning while world crumbles around him

Rumors continue to swirl that the Obamas are purchasing a home in Rancho Mirage in an affluent gated community known as Thunderbird Heights near Palm Springs, California. The rumors began last month when it was reported in June that the Obamas were staying in the home of a homosexual couple living in the same Thunderbird Heights neighborhood on their last trip to California:

The Obama family stayed the weekend at a private residence in Thunderbird Heights, a gated community in Rancho Mirage. White House decorator Michael Smith and his partner, James Costos, the U.S. ambassador to Spain, own a home in the neighborhood. The couple raised more than $500,000 for Obama’s 2012 re-election, before the president appointed Costos to the diplomatic post last summer. Obama also paid them a visit during his last trip to the Coachella Valley in February.

While the rumor is unconfirmed and the White House denies it, the locals in the know claim otherwise:

More than a month after President Barack Obama vacationed in the opulent desert community of Rancho Mirage, speculation is again swirling that the first family is in the process of buying a home there.

The possible purchase? A $4.25 million, 8,232-square-foot hilltop estate in the gated community of Thunderbird Heights.

The listing agent, Carl Blea of HOM Sotheby’s International, declined to comment Monday. The White House has denied the rumors via social media.

Meanwhile, local real estate agents with listings in the neighborhood, including Palm Springs Realtor Nelda Linsk, said they have heard the Obamas are in the process of buying the compound, but no one is confirming it.

In the meantime, while Israel is at war with terrorists and Vladimir Putin gets away with murder, it’s off to California again for President Obama — where he must tend to weightier matters:

President Barack Obama is flying into California on Tuesday for a pair of Democratic fundraisers in Silicon Valley and the Los Angeles area.

The president is scheduled to arrive Tuesday at San Francisco International Airport and spend the night in the Bay Area, where he and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi are slated to attend a fundraiser Wednesday at the home of real estate developer and major Democratic donor George Marcus.

Tickets for the lunch in Los Altos Hills start at $10,000 per person and go up to $32,400 for a couple, according to an invitation obtained last month by The Associated Press.

Later Wednesday, Air Force One will fly to Los Angeles, where Obama is scheduled to attend a Democratic National Committee fundraiser.

On Thursday, he plans to give a speech on the economy at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College.

Seems there is no crisis, calamity or devastation worthy of pulling Obama out of his fantasy world long enough to deal with reality. Buying a retirement home in the neighborhood with his homosexual friends and making sure the Democrats are well-funded for future elections take priority.

Of course.

The Watercooler is always an open thread.
