The Watercooler ~ Worst Case Scenario: Bergdahl Willingly Aids Taliban Immediately After Desertion

Setting aside the awfulness of President Obama’s latest demonstration of breathless arrogance and recklessness in trading the release of five terrorist leaders from Guantanamo for the release of an American soldier who is looking more and more like a traitor in every sense of the word, this interview of Sgt. Evan Buetow — Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s team leader the night he disappeared — by Jake Trapper at CNN is the most chilling and frightening testimony of events surrounding Bergdahl’s disappearance that has surfaced since his release from captivity.

I know it is difficult to wait until all the evidence is in and I certainly hope the military treats Bergdahl as a suspect and thoroughly interrogates him until he tells the truth, but this interview makes clear that it is a very real possibility that Bergdahl not only deserted his post but was actively assisting the Taliban in their attacks on our troops immediately after he deserted. As his team leader Sgt. Buetow states, the accuracy of the attacks after Bergdahl deserted could just be a coincidence, but on the other hand, it is also very suspicious.

Once again, we find ourselves in the middle of a scandal involving Obama that leaves us wondering in disbelief at the incredulous facts unfolding before us. The only encouraging change is that this story is so horrifying in its full implications that even many on the left are abandoning their knee-jerk defense of the president and trying to get to the bottom of this story.

God help us get to the whole truth and have the courage to do what justice would demand.

The Watercooler is always an open thread.
