There are people alive today who may well live to see the final fall of Europe.
Europe is the wellspring of Western civilization. Starting with Greece and then Rome, and then the continental powers of Germany, France, and Great Britain, Western civilization is largely the product of European people, European philosophies, and European culture.
All this is changing now. In a few more years, what's left of Western civilization won't be found in most of Europe. Europe, after millennia of wars, invasions, catastrophes, and social and economic collapses, may finally be about to die, not with a bang, but a whimper. In other words, Europe is dying a death of apathy.
Why? Well, here's why, and I'm going to tell you. First of all, Europe's economy is a train wreck, in which the train crashed into a mirror factory while pulling 60 rail cars full of burning dumpsters. This is, as is always the case, due to incentives; most of the nations of Europe are getting those all wrong.
For nearly five decades, the European Union's economic growth and productivity rates have lagged behind those of the United States.
European Union countries have established welfare states that have steadily expanded since 1980 and stifle economic growth.
The European Union has also proliferated stifling regulations that place a heavy encumbrance on businesses. Restrictions on gas and electricity production, combined with a drive for a rapid and extremely costly transition to "renewable energy", have resulted in natural gas prices in Europe that are now three to five times higher than in the US, and electricity prices that are 2 to 4 times higher than in the US. To survive, many European companies have relocated production outside Europe.
International investment is turning away from Europe. Nine of the world's top ten tech companies are American; the tenth is Taiwanese.
Look carefully at this pattern, because it's the economic model American Democrats embrace: Punish success, reward failure. Economics are all about choices, and one of those choices is whether or not one is going to be productive, to actually produce value, or to be a drag on the taxpayers. The trouble here is when you subsidize non-production, you increase the burden of non-producers, with fewer and fewer producers to pay for all of it. That's as inevitable as the sunrise; as Margaret Thatcher famously said, sooner or later, you run out of other people's money.
But there's a larger problem, and it's only partially to do with economics: Ethnic Europeans simply aren't having enough babies.
In 2024, 3.55 million children were born in the EU, corresponding to a crude birth rate (the number of live births per 1 000 persons) of 7.9. For comparison, the EU crude birth rate was 10.5 in 2000, 12.8 in 1985 and 16.4 in 1970.
During the period 1961-2024, the highest annual total for the number of live births in the EU was recorded in 1964, at 6.8 million children. From this comparative high until the beginning of the 21st century, the number of live births in the EU declined at a relatively steady pace, reaching a low of 4.36 million in 2002 (see Figure 1). This was followed by a modest recovery in the number of live births, with a high of 4.68 million children born in the EU in 2008, which in turn was followed by a general downward trend, although with modest increases in 2014 and 2016. Live births in the EU firstly declined to 4.07 (in 2020), then slightly increased to 4.09 million in 2021 and since 2022 again started decreasing. In 2024, total number of live births in the EU was 3.55 million children.
As the saying goes, the future belongs to those who show up for it. This isn't a problem limited to Europe; Russia has it even worse, as do such disparate places as Japan, China, and yes, Iran. Ethnic Europeans aren't having enough babies, and it's somewhat inexplicable; after all, humans know how to go about producing babies, and have for thousands and thousands of years. In the case of Europeans from Germany to Britain to almost everywhere, people just aren't reproducing.
This kind of demographic death spiral isn't easy to pull out of. For much of Europe, it may already be too late.
But that's not the elephant in the room.

The elephant in the room here is what many in Europe euphemistically call "migration." Some phrase the influx of people from Africa and the Middle East as "refugees," but "invaders" is a more apt term. And the catch is this: These people are having babies, and plenty of them.
As of 2025, Europe’s Muslim population is estimated at around 46 million, or about 6% of the continent’s total population of roughly 745 million. This is up from 4.9% in 2016, driven by migration (about 50-60% of growth) and higher fertility rates (40-50%). Most Muslim migrants come from the Middle East and North Africa (e.g., Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Morocco), South Asia (e.g., Pakistan, Bangladesh), and Sub-Saharan Africa (e.g., Somalia, Nigeria). In recent years (2010-2023), over 3 million Muslim migrants arrived in Europe, with peaks during the 2015-2016 refugee crisis.
And:
Muslim women in Europe have a total fertility rate (TFR) of about 2.6 children per woman, compared to 1.6 for non-Muslims. Europe’s overall TFR is 1.5, below replacement (2.1), leading to population decline without migration.
That's a lot to assimilate. But it boils down to this: Europe is in a death spiral. In one more generation, maybe two, Europe will not exist, not as we know it today. Most of the nations (props to Poland for resisting) are being Islamified. What Islam couldn't do by force of arms, they are doing by force of birthrate. And it's happening here, too, in Muslim enclaves like Dearborn, Michigan - and other places. As in Europe, this invasion has the overt support of the political left, which is a whole different story of unwitting self-destruction. Now, as we recently saw in the invasion of Spanish Ceuta by hordes of young, unattached, military-age men from Morocco, the invasion is becoming more overt. And why wouldn't it? The nations of Europe, most of them, have willingly bent their necks to the invaders before now. Some pushback is materializing, most notably in the United Kingdom and Ireland, but it's likely already too little, too late.
Europe is the place and the people that gave us the Renaissance and the Enlightenment. It's the land that produced modern astronomy, medicine, the scientific method, and more. It's the land that brought forth Charlemagne, Arthur, Charles Martel, a panoply of greatness all the way up to Winston Churchill.
Now, Europe is dying. And it may be too late to turn things around.
