AOC Is Downplaying Her Wokeness Now, but Her History Tells a Different Story

New York's infamous Democrat Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), or AOC, as she is commonly known, is indisputably the darling of the far left. She's a card-carrying member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), which is a contradiction in terms, as there is nothing democratic about socialism; that name is a smoke screen. And just like that name, AOC is trying now to reinvent herself. Presumably, she has her eyes on a bigger office. Now, ever since she initially won the election, she's been a reliable creature of the far, far, left. If she's not an actual communist, she sure has her toes right up on that line.

But her smoke screen isn't working. She's trying to take a (slightly) more moderate tone. But the internet is forever.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been at the center of a minor uproar over comments she made in an interview last week putting distance between herself and the aggressive "woke" politics that brought her and other Squad members to power, and seemingly acknowledging those views may not be as popular as they once were – or as sane as she pretended at the time.

The record shows the "Woke 1" early adopter doesn't have a lot of room with which to add such distance.

AOC has zero room to distance herself from "Woke 1," especially as long as her earlier comments and remarks are still available on the internet. And, the internet is forever.

Look at some of her earlier statements, made publicly on X. She's hammering that bugaboo of the far left, white supremacy; like many on the far left, AOC seems to think one can find a white supremacist lurking behind any doorway:

She's also all down with gender ideology:

She's also all in favor, it seems, of dismantling our justice system:

This is all going to come back to haunt her, should she decide to run for a bigger office. Even New York, as a state, isn't the NY 14th Congressional District. In NY-14, a stuffed iguana could win the election to Congress if it had a "D" after its name, which is why the New York Republican Party never bothers to make a serious play for that seat. Some seats are like that, where the minority party sometimes doesn't even bother to name a candidate. But there's a big difference between a shoo-in election like that and even a statewide Senate election, much less a presidential one.

Even Axios isn't buying her sudden transformation.

Flashback: In the early 2020s, Ocasio-Cortez was one of the most aggressive and well-known advocates for "defunding" the police — an idea that polls have long shown is not popular.

  • In the summer of 2020, she blasted New York City's government for proposing to cut its police department by only $1 billion.
  • "Defunding police means defunding police," she said then. "It does not mean budget tricks or funny math." She added: "The fight to defund policing continues."

In 2019, AOC posted on social media that "we need to have a real conversation about decarceration & prison abolition in this country."

  • She said that year that some marginalized groups "have no choice but to riot."
  • And she said at an event in 2021: "I want to abolish our carceral system that's designed to trap Black and brown men."

Now, she's trying to back away from all this. It's a fair bet that she wants to move up, out of NY-14 and maybe into Chuck Schumer's old Senate seat - or into the Oval Office. But political campaigns in most places are a harsh business, and if AOC ever faces a serious, no-kidding, determined Republican opponent, all of her commie (or at least commie-adjacent) history, all her dumb remarks, all of her embraces of loony-left ideas, even her shedding crocodile tears at the gate of a fenced enclosure that was later discovered to be empty - all of that will be bundled up, tightly wrapped, and thrown back at her.

If AOC wants to sell voters on her sudden and unbelievable moderation, the best thing she could do would be to publicly and repeatedly denounce the detestable, hate-filled Hasan Piker, just for a start. She hasn't, so that tells you all you need to know about the woman who was once "Sandy" Cortez, the NYC bartender. And, as always, the internet is forever.

Editor's Note: The Democrat Party has been infected by socialism, and it's spreading FAST. Democrats are claiming there's nothing to worry about, but we know the truth.
