There used to be a phrase that totalitarian governments would apply to people who, when turned out to scream their adoration of the dictator, instead offered a muted response to the big man's appearance. Often as not, those people would be scooped up and prosecuted for what was commonly termed "insufficient zeal."
Now, in Nigeria, a nation which pretty much defines the concept of "Third World feces-hole," Islamic terror groups have taken a break from slaughtering Christians and now are slaughtering Muslims who are "not practicing the true faith." Another example of insufficient zeal, it seems.
Jihadists have kidnapped and slaughtered scores of people in an attack during Friday prayers in central Nigeria.
The exact toll of the attacks, which also hit the village of Binzi in Niger State, was unknown, federal representative Jafaru Mohammed said.
Jibril Ahmad, a civilian who survived the attack, said: 'Soon after finishing the normal Friday prayer, the armed group of Lakuwara, in their hundreds, wielding guns, knives and machetes, began to attack us.'
'They slaughtered some of our people, saying we are not practising the true teachings of Islam,' Ahmad added.
Here's the interesting bit: This Lakuwara group, in the course of the attack, ended up clashing with another jihadi group.
Some are understood to have escaped when another jihadist group, known as Mahmuda, started clashing with the militants.
It was also confirmed today that armed men abducted over 60 worshippers from a nearby mosque.
These groups have, up until now, primarily focused on Nigerian Christians. Estimates of the number of Christians killed by Islamic terrorists in Nigeria vary, but some figures run as high as 30,000. On Thursday, 30 Christians were killed, and 50 homes were destroyed in another, unrelated attack.
Not less than 30 people were reportedly killed, with an unspecified number injured, while more than 50 houses and food barns were set ablaze after gunmen suspected to be terrorists invaded the Jwak Maitumbi community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State on Sunday.
A resident of the community, Lonji Zuhumnan, who confirmed the carnage to DAILY POST on Monday morning, said the rampaging gunmen numbering over 100 and armed with sophisticated weapons stormed the community at about 7:30am, shooting sporadically for several hours, killing the victims, injuring others and setting houses and food silos ablaze.

These, mind you, are not military members who are being killed. They are not soldiers. They are innocent people, peasants in all but name, who happen to have the wrong faith, in the eyes of the jihadis. In some cases, they have the wrong version of the right faith. That's something of a head-scratcher, but you can't apply reason to these people.
As far as the danger from Islamic terrorist groups, Nigeria ranks #2 in the world by the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), ranking only after Burkina Faso. It's a place that no Westerner would want to visit unless one is accompanied by a battalion of Marines with paid-up life insurance policies. And it's a place where brutal repression, murder, and ruin are the likely portion of not only Christians but anyone whom the most foaming-at-the-mouth, mad dog jihadi group finds to be insufficiently Muslim.
The late, great Paul Harvey was fond of saying, "It's not one world." For a citizen of the United States, still today the greatest nation in human history, there's no greater illustration of the accuracy of Mr. Harvey's remark than Nigeria.
