Tired of winning yet? Well, here's another win for you; the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia's Scam Center Strike Force, on Tuesday, has announced another big fraud bust, freezing $25 million in cryptocurrency linked to Chinese organized crime efforts.

$725 million is a fair piece of change, and the number is growing; it won't be long until it approaches a billion. And, as the saying goes, a billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking real money.

The Scam Center Strike Force, which is conducting all this work, was first stood up in 2025. Even before this latest seizure, they had recovered over $700 million in stolen money.

The Scam Center Strike Force was formed in 2025 and combines the power, reach, and resources of the U.S. Attorney’s Office with the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, the FBI, and the U.S. Secret Service to secure America against Southeast Asian cryptocurrency-related fraud and scams. The Scam Center Strike Force seeks to use all government tools available, partnering with the Department of State, the Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and the Department of Commerce.

The Scam Center Strike Force is investigating the worst scam compounds located in Southeast Asia. Strike Force teams focus on identifying and pursuing key leaders—including Chinese organized crime affiliates operating in Cambodia, Laos, and Burma—to bring them to justice.

The Strike Force is working to seize and disable the U.S.-based facilities and infrastructure that provide the manner and means to execute these scams, which includes U.S. internet service provider and social media accounts scammers use to prey on Americans. The Strike Force will collaborate with U.S. companies to sever access to the scam centers and prevent U.S. infrastructure from being weaponized against American citizens.

The Strike Force Crypto Seizure team has restrained $701,962,392.15 in crypto currency from these schemes. The Crypto Seizure team is focused on recovering stolen funds and returning them to victims.

That's great work, and it sends a great message to scammers: We're coming for you.

We may not be able to go after cyber-scammers in China, after all. China isn't about to extradite these goblins, no matter how much they are stealing. But we can take their money. That hurts them, and it very likely hurts the Chinese Communist Party, which, it's a safe bet, is getting some level of vig off the top of whatever the scammers can bring in. And who knows how much more money is out there, making its way through the labyrinthine cryptocurrency channels, having been defrauded from American citizens, and citizens of other countries, for that matter? The number may well be in the trillions. But now, we're clawing back some of that money; that's an unalloyed good thing, and that's for sure and for certain.

And, no, we're not tired of winning yet.
