Democrat Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-14)'s woes just keep adding up, and honestly, it couldn't happen to a more deserving guy. Now there's more, on top of all the allegations surfacing over the last few days - and we must believe all accusers, isn't that what Democrats keep telling us? Well, now Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13) intends to move to oust Rep. Swalwell from the House of Representatives altogether.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) on Saturday said she would file a motion to expel California Rep. Eric Swalwell from office, after the Democrat was hit with sexual assault allegations.

“I am filing a motion to expel Eric Swalwell from Congress,” the Republican lawmaker wrote on social platform X.

A former staffer of Swalwell accused the House member and California gubernatorial candidate of sexually assaulting her twice when she was too drunk to consent in a new report from The San Francisco Chronicle published on Friday. CNN reported three additional allegations from women that the congressman sent them inappropriate messages and nude pictures.

At least some of these, the sexual assault accusations, are criminal matters, and even someone as odious as Rep. Swalwell is entitled to the presumption of innocence and due process. But honestly, there is at least one person who already knows the truth, that being Swalwell himself, and if there's any truth to any of this, he should resign in disgrace. But if Eric Swalwell had even a modicum of integrity, he would have resigned in disgrace after the Chinese honey trap incident.

So, how likely is he to be expelled? Not likely:

Expulsion is the most serious consequence a member of Congress can face, and it requires a two-thirds majority vote in the House. Only 6 members of the House of Representatives have been expelled in U.S. history — with former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) being the most recent, after an ethics review found he misused campaign funds and falsified his background.

George Santos was a Republican, and there are some behaviors Republicans won't tolerate. But Democrats? No, safe bet is that House Democrats will vote to let Rep. Swalwell keep his seat.

Still, though, Swalwell is already losing some key allies, even some other Democrats who are just as odious as he is:

The full post reads:

In light of the allegations of sexual assault, Eric Swalwell should resign from Congress and end his campaign for public office. But those decisions do not absolve him of taking responsibility for his misconduct, especially when he has attempted to silence and retaliate against these victims.

These allegations merit full investigations, and these women deserve the right to pursue justice.

Too often, men escape any consequence for sexual misconduct by stepping out of power. That is a first and necessary step towards justice because it limits the ability for further harm. I stand with these women as they seek justice.

While it's extremely tempting here to cry out, "Oh please, pot, meet kettle," I would point out to Rep. Swalwell that when you've lost Katie Porter, well, you're pretty much finished. He may not be expelled from the House of Representatives - but his chance of re-election is near zero, assuming he has the chutzpah enough to run again.
