America Tops World Oil and Gas Production Under New Agenda

America's energy boom continues, and boy howdy has it been amazing. We're seeing exploration and infrastructure projects here in the Great Land, of course, but not just here; "drill, baby, drill" has been joined by "mine, baby, mine," and it's working, much sooner than many of us would have expected.

Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum has some encouraging numbers.

Let's have a closer look at those numbers, shall we? Here's his rundown on who's producing what. First, oil - petroleum, in millions of barrels per day.

  • USA: 24.0
  • Saudi Arabia: 10.9
  • Russia: 10.5
  • Canada: 6.4
  • China: 5.4
  • United Arab Emirates: 4.7
  • Iran: 4.6

It's unclear if that Iran number is before or after Operation Epic Fury.

Now, on natural gas, the United States is dominating even more; these numbers are in billion cubic feet per day:

  • USA: 118
  • Russia: 62
  • Iran: 27
  • China: 23
  • Canada: 20
  • Qatar: 20
  • Australia: 16

We are, in a little over a year since President Trump resumed office, producing more oil than Saudi Arabia and Russia combined, and more natural gas then the combined output of Russia, Iran, and China. That's pretty impressive.

Why is this important?

Energy, as I am continually pointing out, as President Trump and Secretary Burgum plainly understand, is at the heart of everything else we do. It's the driving force and the primary driver of our economy. The cost of energy is factored into every product, every service, every commodity, everything. It affects the price of everything, from a candy bar to a house, from a sandwich to a supertanker. Our lifestyle, our technology, is only going to become more and more energy-hungry as we go forward; the rise of artificial intelligence and the massive data centers required for that are now promising to super-charge this.

That toothpaste ain't going back in the tube. We can only go forward.

There's more to it than that. The United States is now a net energy exporter, and has been since 2019, during President Trump's first term. Production actually dropped during Autopen Joe Biden's (thankfully) sole term, but now we're back on track.

In February, the White House released more numbers:

  • Record-Breaking LNG Exports: In 2025, the United States set a historic new record by exporting more than 100 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in a single year — the first country ever to achieve this milestone.
    • The U.S. Energy Information Administration forecasts that natural gas production will continue reaching record highs in 2026 and 2027, fueled by President Trump’s “Drill Baby Drill” agenda.
  • Expanded Access to Federal Lands: President Trump opened hundreds of millions of acres for oil, gas, and coal production, reversing prior restrictions and prioritizing American resources.
  • Surge in Drilling Permits: The Trump Administration’s has approved nearly 6,000 applications for permits to drill on federal lands — a 55% increase compared to the same period in 2024-2025 — accelerating domestic energy development and creating jobs.
  • Revitalizing Beautiful, Clean Coal: President Trump committed $625 million to reinvigorate America’s beautiful clean coal industry, supporting modernization, recommissioning, and reliable baseload power for communities and the grid.

American energy is back. Not only that, but this increase in supply should moderate energy costs; and that will be good for our economy. Hopefully, just in time for the midterm elections.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump’s leadership and bold policies, America’s economy is back on track.
