This is why we can't have nice things.

In Texas, of all places, a repeat offender, one Abraham Herrera, has been linked to a series of random drive-by shootings in Hays County, Texas, and was reportedly released only two days after a standoff with a SWAT team.

A Texas repeat offender is back behind bars following his alleged involvement in three separate shootings spanning the course of just one month.

Abraham Herrera, 21, is facing several charges stemming from his alleged role in two drive-by shootings and a standoff with SWAT in Hays County – located roughly 15 miles from Austin – last month, according to FOX 7.

Here's how that unfolded:

The first shooting reportedly unfolded on Nov. 3, after authorities were called to the scene after receiving reports of shots fired in the 500 block of Santa Fe Run in Kyle.

Hays County deputies found a homeowner who had been seriously injured after multiple rounds were fired into the home, FOX 7 reported. The shooting was determined to be a random act of violence, with authorities finding no clear motive.

So, this goblin was just randomly running around, shooting into citizens' homes. It's only a stroke of luck that the homeowner in question wasn't killed.

Here's what happened next:

Just nine days later, on Nov. 12, Hays County SWAT was called to the scene of a barricade incident in Buda after deputies responded to reports of shots being fired in the area, FOX 7 reported.

While officers initially confronted Herrera, he allegedly fled into a nearby wooded area and refused to surrender.

Following a standoff with SWAT, Herrera was reportedly taken into custody and authorities recovered an AR-15-style firearm and ammunition at the scene.

It's unclear what happened here, but it wouldn't be a surprise to learn that the goblin in question was once more randomly spraying bullets around.

Here's the onion:

Herrera was subsequently charged with evading arrest or detention, unlawful carrying of weapons, disorderly conduct, and tampering or fabricating with evidence, according to the outlet.

Despite the charges, court records obtained by FOX 7 indicate Herrera was released from jail just two days after his standoff with SWAT.

On Dec. 1, investigators were reportedly made aware of a second drive-by shooting in Martindale that occurred the weekend of Thanksgiving, with evidence allegedly pointing to Herrera.

Did you get that? He was released two days after a standoff with a SWAT team. Now, maybe it's just me, but it seems to me that an armed goblin who was suspected of randomly spraying bullets around, one who fled the police and ended up in a standoff with a SWAT team, well, wouldn't he rate the denial of bail? Seems like this is a guy you'd want to keep behind bars. And this, mind you, is in Texas — although in the Austin area, which I'm given to understand is a blue enclave in the otherwise red state of Texas.

Now, there are many details in this case that we simply don't know. But we do know this: Abraham Herrera is accused of random drive-by shootings and was caught with an AR-pattern rifle and ammo at the scene of his standoff with SWAT. And we know he was released two days later; and finally, we know he is implicated in another shooting after his release.

Now, Democrats will blame the rifle. Democrats will, per their usual modus operandi, blame everything and everybody but the goblin who is accused of running around spraying bullets into random homes. But while rational people, in cases like this, place the blame where it belongs — on the perpetrator — we should also place a good deal of the blame on the broken system that released this goblin onto the streets of Hays County, Texas, only days after being arrested after a standoff with a SWAT team. It's only a matter of dumb luck that nobody died, but we can't count on dumb luck forever.
