DHS Now Offering a Simple Choice to Illegals: $3K for Leaving, or Cuffs

It may be a merrier Christmas than anticipated for illegal aliens in the United States who are willing to take an American-funded trip home. In the spirit of the season, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem has announced that the offered stipend for illegal immigrants willing to self-deport (otherwise known as "going home") will be tripled to $3,000.

Probably still a bargain for the taxpayers.

Speaking on the Fox News Channel's Fox and Friends show, the Secretary said:

Well, it's home for the holidays seasons, though, not only are we returning those kiddos back to their families that Biden lost, we also are saying that if you voluntarily want to go home now, to your country, if you're in this United States of America illegally, we will give you $3,000 through the holidays to send you home. We'll buy you a ticket, give you $3,000 to go home, and that includes people that have not been detained. Maybe have interacted with us, are detained but do not have criminal charges against them, raise your hand, we'll help you get home. We'll facilitate it. And you might get the chance to come back to this country the right way someday. If you wait until we interdict you and detain you, and arrest you, and have to deport you ourselves, you'll never get the chance to come back. So, go on the CBP Home app, and get the information, and we'll make sure you get home in time for Christmas.

Seems like a pretty good deal.

Since President Trump resumed office in January, roughly two and a half million illegal aliens have self-deported, either by using the CBP Home app or just leaving.

On Monday, the Department of Homeland Security issued a press release confirming what the Secretary said.

Illegal aliens who sign up to self-deport through the CBP Home app by the end of the year will receive a $3,000 stipend in addition to a free flight home. Using the CBP Home app also qualifies recipients for forgiveness of any civil fines or penalties for failing to depart the country.

Merry Christmas from the United States of America, and you'll be home for the holidays, where you belong!

The real key incentive in this program, aside from the near-certain bargain for the taxpayers over having to hunt these people down, detain them, and repatriate them, is that illegal aliens who self-deport through the CBP Home app are eligible for a second chance. They can apply to return to the United States legally, and while there's a great argument to be made that this is what they should have done in the first place, the Trump administration's policy is that all will be forgiven if you leave, go home, and seek to return legally.

This is a fairly smart piece of policy. Incentives still matter. If and when any of these people come back through the legal process, we can welcome them. But if they try to remain, well, they'll still get a free plane ride home, but it won't be as pleasant, and they won't get any stipend - and they'll never be allowed to return.

Editor’s Note: We voted for mass deportations, not mass amnesty. Help us continue to fight back against those trying to go against the will of the American people.
