It will be the task of years to fully document and understand all of the taxpayer's money wasted by the now-thankfully-defunct administration of Joe Biden, or whoever was running the autopen. (My money's on Frau Doktor Professor Jill.) This administration and, to be fair, many before it, spent like drunken sailors - but we should remember President Reagan's note that drunken sailors are, at least, spending their own money.
Of all the things a government can waste money on, though, one of the most egregiously stupid things is the ongoing "green" energy projects, which are not only wasteful, but the premises behind these supposedly "renewable" resources are the purest of corral litter. Recently, speaking with Fox Business's Maria Bartiromo, Energy Secretary Chris Wright informed us that the Biden administration kept right on shoveling money at this horse squeeze even after Donald Trump won a resounding election victory in 2024.
While determining the biggest loser in the Biden administration was challenging, it will be equally challenging to name the most effective and competent official in the current Trump administration.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright is undoubtedly a strong contender for this designation. He has been busy untangling the web of climate cult financing. He has discovered that in the final weeks of the Biden administration, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) accelerated the allocation of nearly $100 billion in green energy loans and commitments.
He reviewed the numbers while being interviewed by Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business. Wright noted that the $100 billion far exceeded the total amount the DOE’s Loan Programs Office (LPO) lent in the previous 15 years (about $42 billion).
…Let me repeat about a little over $40 billion was supplied in support through the loan program office in its 15 years of existence. A little over 40 billion and then almost a hundred billion in the 76 days after they lost the election and before President Trump’s inauguration.
Like if those were great ideas that were benefit to the America, why didn’t they do it in the two and a half years after the inflation reduction act was passed? What did they wait till they lost the election? They changed terms and loan covenants. They basically tried to set bombs to make it hard for us to unwind the mess they’d created.
That’s just not a responsible way to treat American taxpayer money and to move our energy system forward. So, yes, we’ve stepped into a lot of mess, but this stuff’s all fixable. We’ve got an aggressive team going after it. And you see already American energy prices are down. investments in America to bring jobs back are up. So, I think we’re going the right direction. But, yeah, we’ve got a lot to clean out.

Now, during this interview, Secretary Wright listed a lot of positives, most notably the administration's intent to "kick start" the development of nuclear power in the United States. But the concern here is the wasteful spending by the Biden administration, after their agenda, including the climate panic-mongering and "green" energy boondoggles, had been decidedly rebuked by the American voters.
Of course, there's nothing new about the hypocrisy from the left on this issue; in Washington, one can't swing a cat without hitting a hypocritical Democrat.

We should note, as Secretary Wright points out in this interview, that when Joe Biden (or whoever was pulling his strings) took office, fossil fuels made up about 80 percent of American energy sources. When he left office, fossil fuels made up about... You guessed it, 80 percent of American energy sources. But every form of energy was more expensive when Joe Biden and his autopen were in office, a trend that has now started to reverse.
Undeterred, the Biden administration, almost certainly to appease the climate scolds and panic-mongers within the ranks of Democrats, continued their wrong-headed policies. They continued to pour taxpayer money - our money - down green energy ratholes. This was a shameful waste of taxpayer money, and it was a major breach of faith with the American electorate.
But then, the Democrats excel at breaking faith with the American electorate; they are, now and always, the party of MAPA: Make America Poorer Again. Whether the issue be climate change, energy, or anything else, you can always count on Democrats to do what's worst for your average American, and they'll keep doing it right up to the moment they are forced to stop.
