Anyone who has been through a TSA process entering an airport has either been "randomly" selected for extra screening or has seen someone have that randomly inflicted on them. It happened to me only last week, returning from visiting the grandkids in Iowa, and it cost me an extra five minutes or so. I was lucky.
Now, the "random" part of this is well to the left of stupid. That's not how you find people who are up to no good. At least it wasn't stupid enough to encompass my 80-year-old blind father-in-law, but it is still pretty stupid; you don't find goblins by random screenings, you find them by looking for people who fit a profile - the profile of a goblin.
So it comes as no surprise that Customs and Border Protection follows a similar model, or that the occasional American citizen will get caught up in it. But whether you see any sense in that policy or not, there's no reason to lie about it, which is what one TikTok "influencer" did. Homeland Security wasted no time in calling her out.

The X post reads, in reply to the whiner's claim that she was targeted because of the political content of her TikTok rantings:
FALSE: Claims that her political beliefs triggered the inspection are baseless. Our officers are following the law, not agendas.
Upon entering the country, this individual was referred for further inspection — a routine, lawful process that occurs daily, and can apply for any traveler. Once her inspection was complete, she was promptly released.
So, nothing out of the ordinary occurred. The immigration officers followed their procedures, and the person was released with no further hassle. Yes, being "randomly" selected is a pain - but it could and does happen to anyone. But when it comes to anything immigration-related right now, the left has gone full-on cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.

Here is the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Inspection Process.
If additional information is needed, you may be sent to secondary inspection, where CBP officers conduct further questioning and document review. Secondary inspection can be prompted randomly or if a CBP officer has concerns about your admissibility. It allows officers to verify information without delaying other travelers.
During secondary inspection, CBP officers may:
- Ask detailed questions about your travel plans, immigration history, previous employment in the U.S. and/or prior drug use
- Inquire about proof of financial ability to support yourself during your stay in the U.S.
- Request proof of enrollment and/or information about your academic program to verify that you have previously maintained F or J status
- Review any interactions with law enforcement, including arrests or DUIs
- Conduct a thorough search of you and your belongings, including electronic devices
- Request passwords or access to locked electronic devices to review laptop files, phone data, and social media accounts
- Make copies of information stored on your devices
This applies to everyone entering the country. Everyone. U.S. citizens and citizens of other nations - everyone. That is, unless you're an illegal alien entering the country during the Biden administration, when little or no inspection was done on anyone.
This is why we should deride the very concept of an internet "influencer." These people shouldn't be influencing anyone with enough brains to pound sand. This "Long Time First Time" loon - I won't speculate on what that screen name may signify - is a person of no more consequence than a package of Peeps. On this event, she is either lying, catastrophically uninformed, or both. The Customs and Border Protection people were doing their duty under the law, nothing more and nothing less. We can argue the wisdom of the procedures from now until the heat-death of the universe, and it won't change the fact that, under existing processes, the officers were doing what the law and their training required of them.
If this person thinks American immigration checks are onerous, I invite her to go through German customs or South African customs. I've been through both, and they don't mess about. I have it from reliable sources that Israel is even more so.
Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
