Your Tax Dollars at Work: Dr. Fauci Receives $15 Million in Taxpayer-Funded Post-Retirement Security

If you could take all the arguments for eliminating the Deep State, for erasing the federal bureaucracy, and taking a meat-axe to the massive federal leviathan that supports it — take all those arguments and boil them all down into one myopic little lump, that lump would be named Dr. Anthony Fauci.

As further evidence of the need to pare down the aforementioned Deep State, we note that Dr. Fauci — who retired from federal employment with a whopping $355k per annum defined-benefit pension and with, mysteriously, a personal wealth estimated at $11 million — has even so, received $15 million in taxpayer-funded security post-retirement, from January 2023 to September of 2024.

Yes, really.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) who retired in December 2022, reportedly got $15,000,000 in taxpayer-funded security services — after he retired. The services were provided between January 4, 2023, and September 20, 2024.

The government watchdog organization Open The Books, which states its mission is to “work hard to capture and post all disclosed spending at every level of government – federal, state, and local,” found the evidence in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the U.S. Marshals service and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) via a Freedom of Information Act request, a new report states.

Here's what he gets — and what you and I are paying for.

Open the Books’ Deputy Policy Editor Amber Todoroff and The Dossier investigative journalist Jordan Schachtel reported that money covered “Salaries and benefits for deputies and administrative personnel assigned to Fauci’s protective detail; costs related to transporting Fauci, and law enforcement equipment.”

The MOU acknowledged that there was a possibility that the contract could be extended.

$15 million over not quite two years. What the hell did they do, assign Fauci his own personal SEAL team to follow him around?

Aside from presidents and vice presidents, what federal employee has ever been given this much for a personal protective detail? Why does Fauci need this level of protection? Why are the taxpayers evidently paying for his travel, or at least the travel of his detail — note that the services include "costs related to transporting Fauci." What does that include? A private jet? Or is he flying coach and paying for his own ticket (doubtful) with his detail crammed in the peasant-class seats around him?

This, folks, is why the federal bureaucracy needs to be cut back. Way back.

Look, I get that a lot of people are miffed about Dr. Fauci making a dog's breakfast of the whole COVID-19 mess. I get that he has some suspicious connections to the Wuhan lab where the virus is thought to have originated — and he's not the only American political or bureaucratic figure to have such connections.

But, honestly, are there sufficient threats to Fauci's life to justify this? Would not, say, one Secret Service guy to accompany Fauci when he ventures out of his home to travel somewhere be more than enough? And if anyone objects to cutting the meat off this particular bone, I've got $36 trillion compelling reasons to do that — and more.
