Election Analyst Calls It Like He Sees It: Harris/Walz Campaign 'In a Lot of Trouble'

Twenty-seven days left in the presidential race, and things are getting interesting. The tide appears to be turning, and one side seems to be building some momentum, and it's not the Democrats. The presidential ambitions of the Queen of Word Salads, Kamala Harris, and the Tim "Great Walz of China" may be coming to an unlamented end, according to political analyst Mark Halperin. Mr. Halperin has been watching recent trends and is bullish on a Trump victory.

Political analyst Mark Halperin said this week that both Democrats and Republicans believe former President Trump’s chances of winning the election are looking strong after seeing recent private polling data.

Appearing on a livestream on his media platform 2WAY, Halperin said people on both sides of the political aisle familiar with the polls have told him they’ve seen Vice President Harris’ electoral prospects slip, and that they’re leaning towards a Trump victory being in the cards.

"In the conversations I'm having with Trump people and Democrats with data, they are extremely bullish on Trump's chances in the last 48 hours. Extremely bullish," Halperin said.

Mr. Halperin has been leaning this way for a while in his prognostications. Only two weeks ago, my esteemed colleague Nick Arama informed us that Mark Halperin was leaning into a Trump victory at that time; things seem to be moving more Trump's way since then.

Nick writes:

As Townhall's Matt Vespa opined, then she's back in the position no better than Biden.

If this holds, that's the ballgame, as Halperin is saying.

The Harris team is seeing it and this is why they're starting to flip out and want another debate.

They aren't going to get another debate. Donald Trump, after the one debate with Kamala Harris, has declined any others, claiming, "You don't ask for another debate if you think you won." That's a fair point and now, with less than four weeks remaining and early and mail-in voting already underway, the chances of another debate are vanishingly small.

I won't recap the polls as they stand on Wednesday. On Tuesday, my colleague Adam Turner already provided an excellent rundown:

What we are likely to see from national Democrats and the Harris/Walz campaign is a lot of whistling past the graveyard. Unless something truly shocking develops in the next few weeks, the Democrat ticket's slide will almost certainly continue, cognitive dissonance on the part of Democrats notwithstanding. Mark Halperin has also cautioned the left against just this:

...Halperin chastised his pro-Harris viewers, stating, "For you Harris people on here complaining that we’re talking about problems in the Harris campaign, you’re welcome to put your head in the sand about it. If you want to go watch MSNBC primetime and hear how great things are going for the Harris campaign, you’re welcome."

"But if you want to understand what’s actually happening, we’re here to tell you. I just saw some new private polling today, that’s very robust private polling, she’s in a lot of trouble."

Here's the thing: Bad news for the Harris people is good news for America. It's hard to see a way for the Harris camp to salvage this thing just now; while the polls are still showing a close race, the momentum appears to be very much on the side of the Trump/Vance ticket. It's easy to see why; in every interview, every staged, practiced softball appearance, the Harris campaign, and the legacy media (but I repeat myself) have done everything but cover their candidate in bubble wrap. And still, she screws it up; she can't answer the most softball questions, she's not well-informed, and her pop-eyed running mate is no better. It's becoming sadly obvious, beyond the ability of the media to conceal, that these people are not and never will be ready for prime time.

It doesn't help that the Biden people - and by that, I mean Frau Doktor Professor Jill Biden - are taking some payback for old Joe having been so unceremoniously dumped. We can scarcely blame them for that; maybe old Joe Biden and the daffy old Bolshevik from Vermont, Bernie Sanders, can start up a support group for "candidates that have been squeezed out of an election by the Democratic National Committee."

Even so - good news, bad news, indifferent news - if I could offer one piece of advice to Republicans running nationwide, it would be this: Fight for every vote, fight to the finish, gird your loins, and campaign like you're twenty points down. We have to win this one.
