Nancy Pelosi Projects: Claims Donald Trump May Skip Tuesday's Debate Because of 'Cowardice'

There's an old saying about the left in politics: They always accuse their opponents of what they themselves are actually doing. No one epitomizes this more than Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). In addition to this quirk, she is childish, petty, and, as seems to be becoming a trend among national Democratic leadership, appears to be having troubles with failing mental acuity.

In her latest such peccadillo, Nancy Pelosi appeared at the Texas Tribune Festival (and it's mildly surprising that this far-left San Franciscan would wander into the Texas of Ted Cruz and Greg Abbott) and spoke with journalist Kara Swisher. At one point in the conversation, the former House Speaker implied that former President Trump may simply skip Tuesday's presidential debate in which he will face Democrat candidate Kamala Harris.

The reason? Trump's "cowardice":

Swisher asked Pelosi what advice she would give former President Trump ahead of the matchup with Harris. The 84-year-old Pelosi quipped, "You think he’s gonna show up?"

The largely liberal audience burst into laughter, followed by applause, as Pelosi slightly smiled.

Swisher asked, "Do you know something I don’t know?"

"I know cowardice when I see it," Pelosi responded.

Swisher then said that she assumed Pelosi agrees with former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney, who called Trump a "misogynist pig" on the very same stage during a previous Trib Fest event.

"Isn’t she wonderful?" Pelosi said of Cheney.

Well, if that doesn't tell you all you need to know about Liz Cheney, I'm not sure what will.

Look, Donald Trump is many things to many people, but coward was never and is not one of them. It's only been a little more than a month since a would-be assassin took a shot at the former president, only nicking his ear due to a fortuitous turn of the head at the last moment; we all remember that iconic scene when he bounded back to his feet, raising a fist in the air to show the crowd he was all right. That's not the act of a coward.

This is a man who has given up a lot. Up until the moment he rode that golden escalator down to announce his candidacy, Donald Trump was on friendly terms with many of the people who now call him everything in the book—people like Oprah Winfrey, for example. He's the only President of the United States whose net worth decreased while he was in office. That's not the act of a coward.

In cases like this, when dealing with people like Nancy Pelosi, it's always important to consider the source. Nancy Pelosi is one of the most petty, childish, and vindictive people ever to occupy a national office. We all remember her petulant, juvenile tearing up of President Trump's State of the Union speech; now apply the "shoe on the other foot" rule and imagine the uproar from the legacy media had John Boehner tore up a printed copy of one of Barack Obama's State of the Union speeches. He didn't, because there is a certain decorum expected in proceedings like this. Nancy Pelosi neither knows nor cares about that decorum.

Donald Trump is no coward. He can be mercurial and, at times, undisciplined, but he is no coward. Also, he and his team realize that this election is still dangerously close and that Trump has to register an overwhelming win in what may be the only presidential debate.

He will be there, on that stage, on Tuesday night. In the meantime, no one in the legacy media will call Nancy Pelosi out on her ridiculous accusation.
