The Democrats tell dishonest statements so often, it's hard sometimes to rank them.
One of the biggest lies recently about President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) is that it cuts Medicaid so severely it will kill many people. From now on, to steal the meaning away from the Left, I'm going to start calling it their "big lie." But it's not just Republican policies they lie about. It's much bigger than that.
Democrat House Leader Hakeem Jeffries railed against that supposed threat to humanity during his eight-plus-hour "magic minute" before the vote in the House on the budget reconciliation bill. But even before that, on Tuesday, Democrats, including Jeffries, were saying the effect of the bill would be the deaths of tens of thousands of people in the U.S.
As my colleague Nick Arama pointed out, the New York Democrat recently got some competition, from his fellow Dem pal in neighboring New Jersey, Senator Cory "Spartacus" Booker, in the theatrics department.

He reemerged on the 4th of July only to post a clip/excerpt from his House floor speech, which shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what the American Dream is, and even what the Declaration of Independence means.
Take some time to read the Declaration of Independence today.

It has a lot to teach us about this moment in America.

Jeffries throws out a laundry list of things the government can give people, he claims, like housing, jobs, and healthcare. Then he tries to say that's what the Framers meant when they wrote about "the pursuit of happiness." That's not what they meant at all, Rep. Jeffries. In the next breath, he compares Pres. Donald Trump to England's King George III during Revolutionary times, and alludes to the fabled Project 2025.
Notice also that instead of praising our troops and urging Americans to cherish our liberties on Independence Day, as many politicians do, he makes it about himself -- and his party's election plans for 2026.
There's a reason people sometimes call Jeffries, "Temu Obama." As my colleague Chase Jennings wrote in a recent column, things are not looking good for his future continuing to lead the Democrat Party in the lower chamber.

Then on Saturday, he shared a post on his X account claiming that the GOP is "celebrating" doing something they didn't do in the OBBB:
Republicans are celebrating after they gutted healthcare in their deeply unpopular bill.

The American people will remember the cruelty of it all next November.
Press on.
You know who "gutted healthcare"? The Democrats, with Obamacare/the Affordable Care Act, and more recently, drastic expansions to Medicaid during the COVID-19 pandemic warping what is supposed to help the truly destitute out of all reasonable bounds. There is nothing cruel about fixing something that's broken in the government.
The Republicans voted to cut out the fraud and abuse in the system--but that's something Democrats like Hakeem Jeffries can't afford to happen if they want to get back to the majority in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate. They show who they are with their words and actions on this issue, and voters will see exactly that in 2026 and beyond.
