Not so much these days. Canada, in general, has suffered much under Prime Minister Justin Fidel Trudeau, and the Canadian military forces have fallen far from their World War II status when they made Hitler's SS suffer from loose bowels just by appearing on the field.

As evidence of this, we see that a captain in the Canadian military, a chaplain to the Royal Military College, no less, has been suspended for an alleged groping request. Oh - and the chaplain in question is transgender. Because of course he is.

A Royal Military College chaplain who was hailed by the Canadian military as an LGBTQ champion on Transgender Day of Visibility has been suspended following an alleged groping request. 

The Department of National Defence confirmed to True North that Capt. Beatrice Gale’s chaplaincy was revoked and the member was found to have violated military rules in a summary hearing because of “an inappropriate comment or request to another individual.” Gale was born a biological man but identifies as a woman.

“This incident stems from an inappropriate comment or request to another individual. Neither member was in a position of authority over the other,” DND spokesperson Andrée-Anne Poulin told True North. 

Can we dispense, please, with the "biological man" nonsense? Sex is a matter of biology. The term "biological man," or for that matter, "biological woman," is redundant. And this man can identify as a ham sandwich if he likes, but that doesn't make it true - although it does make him undeployable, and deploying to administer birth certificate revocations is kind of the point of a military.

This is a person who, until now, the Canadian Armed Forces lauded as some kind of hero for their transition; all stunning, much brave!

Give me a break.

Here are the consequences Captain Gale faced:

DND said Gale was disciplined with two days of docked pay and the removal of 20 days of leave. Gale is now on administrative duties but remains at the college.  

During my own time in Uncle Sam's colors, I knew of one officer, a major, who was the subject of a complaint from a married female captain, who not only said the major made sexually charged suggestions to her in an officer's club but had several witnesses to corroborate her story. The major was not demoted, but he was in effect told that he would never see another promotion and was transferred from a desirable post in Heidelberg to a... less desirable station in Hungary. That comment was a career-ending move for this officer; one would think the Canadian military does the same, but instead, two days of docked pay? Remaining at the college?

It's really difficult to see in what way this service member aids in the mission of the Canadian Armed Forces. He can't be deployed. Granted a chaplain is a noncombatant, but a "transgender" person, by definition, is someone who is generally undergoing long-term medical treatments and who is, by definition, not deployable. They are, in effect, useless to the core mission. 

The purpose of a military isn't to promote the latest social fad. The purpose of the military is to find bad guys and change their pronouns to "Was" and "Were." Someone like Captain Gale, not only a non-deployable "transgender" person but also now an accused sexual predator, has no place in the Canadian military and should be put back on the block.
