Hunter Biden to Face Felony Tax Charges in California Federal Court

Poor Hunter Biden. Lately, it seems scarcely a day goes by when he isn't hit with some new indictment. The latest comes out of California, wherein the First Son is being called to account for evading payment of $1.4 million in self-assessed taxes; that is, taxes showed on his tax filings that he owed but just didn't pay.

Biden’s arraignment on his nine felony tax counts is scheduled for Jan. 11, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the federal court in Los Angeles, according to the Central District of California’s court calendar.  He was indicted earlier this month on three felony charges in connection to tax evasion and filing a false return as well as six misdemeanor charges for failure to pay taxes between 2016 and 2019.

“Hunter Biden engaged in a four-year scheme in which he chose not to pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019 and to evade the assessment of taxes for tax year 2018 when he filed false returns,” prosecutors wrote in a press release earlier this month.

Hunter's attorneys, of course, immediately condemned the unfairness of it all.

Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, has argued that his client has received unfair treatment over his late tax filings.

“[W]here’s the fairness, justice and decency in this?” Abbe Lowell said in an interview with CNN earlier this month. “The charges in this new tax indictment talk about a period where Hunter was at the lowest ebb of his addiction. And like people in that regard, and I know everybody in America either has somebody in their family or friends who suffer from addiction, he certainly did things that he’s not proud of.”

So, being an addict gives you a pass on non-compliance with tax law? Well, that would exempt a great deal of the Democrats' constituency, wouldn't it? One wonders if a person could just "identify" as an addict and get a pass on taxes under this questionable legal theory.

It turns out Hunter isn't the only Biden to skip out on paying taxes; my colleague Bonchie has that story:

While Hunter Biden faces multiple federal charges for not paying his taxes (among other charges), another Biden family member also failed to pay Uncle Sam what he was due. According to a new report, Ashley Biden, Joe Biden's daughter, has multiple government liens against her assets in Pennsylvania for failing to pay her taxes.

That revelation comes even as the president has continued to arrogantly proclaim that other Americans must "pay their fair share," something his own family members are apparently unwilling to do.

Ashley Biden, it's important to note, is in a much more precarious legal position, not being able to trot out Abbe Lowell's novel "Addiction Defense."

Hunter, though, is not without hope in this matter. He has influential allies, some of whom, like Hunter, have ties to China. But investigations into the Biden family are still ongoing, and other Biden offspring and siblings are now coming under the microscope. Still, it's important to note that the Bidens all have one thing going for them.

All of this comes at a bad time for the President, whose approval ratings are going down like a paralyzed duck in a hailstorm. His odds for the general election aren't looking good, and without his presence in the White House, defending the various Biden... enterprises, not to mention shielding his family members from scrutiny, suddenly becomes more difficult.

Here's the onion:

The scheduled court appearance also comes as President Biden’s family is under increased scrutiny from House Republicans, who are investigating his family’s business dealings. The House GOP formalized its impeachment inquiry into the president last week in an effort to get more information from the White House.

Like real onions, the Biden family's shenanigans just smell worse as you peel away the layers. And when you've lost Jen Psaki...
