According to a new poll from the folks at “Fuels America*“, 75% of Americans and 60% of conservatives support the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), the 2005 act of Congress which mandates how many billions of gallons of ethanol are to be included in motor gasoline for each year through 2022.
What do you think, RedState reader? You can register your opinion on the RFS at my blog: Do you support the Renewable Fuel Standard?
The poll is structured to segregate answers from conservatives from everyone else. Sure, it’s unscientific but it’s guaranteed to be worth the price of admission.
If you happen to be a reader of any political stripe and would like to register your opposition to the RFS mandate, you can do so at smarterfuelfuture.org.
* Yes, those would be the same folks behind the anti-oil twitter account @TheOilyBird. From their “About” page, you can see that Fuels America is made up of industrial fuel giants who happen not to be oil companies: DuPont, Archer-Daniels-Midland, Monsanto among them. There are also agricultural trade groups such as the National Corn Growers’ Association and the National Association of Wheat Growers. Most of their product is used in conjunction with gasoline. It speaks to the virtues of their product that the best ways they’ve found to promote it is 1) to trash the oil companies and 2) lobby for more government requirements to use the stuff, regardless of market demand or potential damage to cars and small engines.
