Good news. Trump’s been taught the difference between American and Russian soldiers: You know about the ad the Donald Trump campaign put out yesterday which was to highlight American veteran issues. Jay Caruso had the rundown here at RedState . How could anyone miss there were Russian vets in the ad. The uniforms and medals pretty much told the story. Not unexpectedly, Trump was mocked about the whole affair. Eventually, team Trump got around to fixing their mistake . The Hill noted the changeup and then reminded readers Trump is known for getting stuff wrong. They pointed to his “…first television ad focusing on immigration that showed images of Morocco while warning against immigrants coming through “our southern border.”
Mother Nature held off so Right to Life Rally could go on: Weather reports warned the worst storm in decades was about to hit but that didn’t stop thousands who braved the cold in DC for the annual Right to Life march. The Daily Signal has a couple of interesting pieces up on the march. In the first, the Signal has a video where they talked to millennials to find out why they came out for the cause. The second is more than two dozen pics of some of the best signs found at Friday’s march.
The mean could get worse on the trail: Former Gov. Jeb Bush was talking to a voter at one of his stops recently and, while the man praised Bush for his civility, Bush was quick to say he defends himself when necessary. The man insisted Bush wasn’t as bad as other candidates. It was then Time Mag says Bush pretty much told the voter – you ain’t seen nothin’ yet:
“Here’s what I believe, the level of attacking back and forth in this campaign is pretty timid and tame compared to previous campaigns,” Bush replied. “This is beanbag time. I mean, you think this is ugly, wait until Hillary Clinton and the Clinton hit machine gets going.”
Because the race needed another New York Democrat billionaire: Stop me if you’ve heard this one before..Michael Bloomberg is thinking now might be the time to run for president. Apparently he’s not fond of the frontrunners in either party. I referred to him as Democrat, but this time he’d run as an Independent. Here’s his wiki page which details his party loyalties. How he was Democrat but switched to Republican when he ran for mayor of New York in 2001. Stayed a Republican through the next term, but then switched to Independent so he could run again, on the Republican ticket. Honestly, does it matter at this point? Anyway, NY Times reports Bloomberg has:
“…instructed advisers to draw up plans for a potential independent campaign in this year’s presidential race. His advisers and associates said he was galled by Donald J. Trump’s dominance of the Republican field, and troubled by Hillary Clinton’s stumbles and the rise of Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont on the Democratic side.”
He figures he has until early March to definitely make up his mind and get on the ballot in all although he has already begun talking to people. If he wins, hide your soda.
The end of the world is Monday: Just trying to give you a couple day’s notice. Back in January 2006, Al Gore warned, strongly, “unless drastic measures to reduce greenhouse gases are taken within the next 10 years, the world will reach a point of no return.” That brings us to Monday which Gore predicted would be a “true planetary emergency”. Investor’s Business Daily claims Gore has been running a “global warming racket” and lists several of the former Vice President’s weather and warming predictions that haven’t come to pass. Maybe he’ll get it right Monday and this blizzard in the nor’east is the first wave. Or maybe not.
Happy, happy, joy, joy: An entrepreneur in Houston, TX came up with the perfect way to get rid of stress. For $35 you can spend 10 minutes in a room destroying stuff. Everything in the room is fair game. By stuff I mean televisions, appliances, dishes, office furniture, lamps, and other items that sound great when smashed. KHOU-TV says the company, Tantrums LLC, will even provide you with a choice of weapons. Just pick out the golf club, sledgehammer, baseball bat or whatever fits your hands and start swinging. Do not try this at your own home. No matter how much you want to.
Today is a great day: Get ready for it..today is National Pie Day! Doesn’t matter what kind. Apple pie, blueberry, pecan pie, lemon meringue, honey pie, sweetie pie, its all good.
Quickhits: The “TruthAboutGuns” blog says there may be a little relief from the shortage of 22 ammo on the way. Here’s what the massive snow storm looks like from the International Space Station. And then there’s this, not to be seen by anyone whoever watched the Potter movies. Poor Daniel Radcliffe.
Thanks for hanging around the Watercooler. Enjoy your pie. Remember to leave something down below. A comment about something you saw here or a bit of flotsum from elsewhere that you can share. Come back often because new stuff gets dropped on the floor a lot. Hey, it’s an Open Thread. We’re not that picky.
