First Son Hunter Biden Is Racing Towards a Summer Trial That Can't Come Soon Enough

There is just something about first son Hunter Biden that I can't get enough of.

Like in the picture posted in this article, he looks like a dazed deer trapped in the headlights and is confused about how he got there. You would be, too, after living your life as a rockstar all because your dad was a senator from a state that most people couldn't find on a map, was once the vice president, and belonged to a party that is trying to destroy the country from within. You wouldn't be able to imagine getting dinged because of Republican witch-hunts and would be dazed if you were, as that is not supposed to happen to Democrats.

Dude has been seemingly living the American dream, and it all could come crashing down this summer. If it does, he will still have that dazed and confused look on his face but I can also imagine some other expressions not nearly as adorable.

We haven't gotten a lot of news about Hunter lately because the media minders we have are trying to keep the American public insulated from the fact that the commander-in-chief of the country currently has trouble walking and distinguishing the words "Easter" and "oyster" from each other.

Biden Breaks Out More Confusion and a New Name for Easter Bunnies, Sneaks in Sniff of a Child

Plus, in the game of political chess, Donald Trump has naturally soaked up all the oxygen with his seemingly endless time in court which he is treating as campaign fundraisers. That move seems to have paid off with his fundraiser last weekend of $50 million

However, it is time to get ready for the news drought on the Hunter Biden court cases to end. This is why I was thrilled to read earlier this morning about the federal judge ruling on Hunter and his motions to dismiss criminal tax charges against him.

Those woes are serious, to read a federal judge’s ruling this week slapping down all eight of Hunter’s motions to dismiss the criminal tax charges against him. The ruling received minimal coverage, even though it began a countdown to two potential Hunter trials (the other for firearm offenses) as his father fights for re-election. Those trials will provide a counterpoint to Mr. Trump’s legal journey.

Joe Biden’s supporters will insist Hunter’s problems aren’t the president’s and are small potatoes next to allegations of conspiracy and obstruction against Mr. Trump. Yet voters like to equal out partisan scenarios, and Republicans have successfully nestled Hunter’s tax misbehavior in an unseemly tale of Joe’s influence peddling. Many Americans will simply view the coming judicial dramas as the Trump Trials on one hand, and the Biden Trials on the other.

Now, I'm not a legal scholar, nor do I even try to pretend to be one on the radio. Yet from an average American's point of view, the legal problems that Hunter faces seem pretty simple for most Americans to understand, whereas the legal hurdles Trump faces dive into many gray areas.

Tax evasion and possessing a firearm illegally is something the Hunter in all of us might trip onto.

Judge Scarsi was also not impressed with the arguments presented by Hunter's legal team and let Biden and his lawyers have a bit of a verbal beating also about their sloppy attempt to dismiss charges against him.

Federal Judge Mark Scarsi this week used an 82-page opinion to remind the Hunter team that sound bites aren’t legal arguments. He efficiently dismantled and dismissed every motion. Yes, Mr. Weiss was duly appointed, and his office is lawfully funded. No, there is no evidence of animus against Hunter; the defense’s “motion is remarkable in that it fails to include a single declaration, exhibit, or request for judicial notice” that demonstrates vindictiveness, beyond media speculation. And there is certainly no reason to throw out the case on grounds that Republicans bragged about provoking the charges, since “politicians take credit for many things over which they have no power and have made no impact.” (Truer words were never written.)

The result: Barring surprises, Hunter begins his California trial on June 20. Judge Scarsi’s ruling could also serve as a template for Judge Maryellen Noreika, who will soon rule on a similar set of dismissal motions in her Delaware courtroom. Assuming she too throws them out, Hunter’s trial there begins June 3rd.

So the clock is ticking down to two appearances of Joe's baby boy, Hunter, which should steal some of the thunder away from Donald Trump and his appearances. I should note that our Managing Editor, Jenn Van Laar, will be attending the California trial and will have exclusive content right here at RedState.

The timing of these court appearances happens shortly before the Democrats hold their national convention in late August in Chicago and should provide the Democrats with some sleepless nights as Joe and his crew trip into the summer with Hunter and his legal baggage in tow.

As my colleague Joe Cunningham noted regarding Democrats' feelings about Joe, as of today:

There has been, for at least a year, speculation that Joe Biden was going to bow out or be forced out. What's more, there have even been calls from within his own party for him to step aside and let younger, fresher leadership step in. But Biden is stubborn and won't let anyone push him out of the way.

However, there are a lot of signs that the American public does not feel confident in his job as president, and there is a lot of grumbling that has turned into polling data showing a plurality of Americans would prefer going back to Donald Trump rather than keep Biden around.

You can only imagine how they will feel as Hunter steals the spotlight leading up to November 2024 and possibly will help Trump reclaim the White House.

Imagine the look on Hunter's face if that happens.
