Here we go.

There have been some dirty li’l secrets and or questions that no one in the Trump campaign, or any Republican for that matter, has addressed head-on, and I think it is time to tackle them.

If the 2020 election was rigged for Trump to lose, then what steps have the National and State GOP  organizations taken to correct that in the states where this occurred?

The answer is zilch, and if I’m wrong, you can hit up my bio and let me know exactly why at my email address.

Now the reason this popped up in my mind is that an article about the upcoming Michigan GOP confab in September says that some famous guests who have claimed fraud will be featured. I touched on this conference briefly in my radio show yesterday, which was posted here at RedState: Duke Over America, WAAM Radio Edition 238: Sunday, July 30th, 2023.

Here is a brief excerpt of the article that got me thinking about what has the GOP done since 2020:

At least two high-profile conservatives known for pushing unproven conspiracy theories about U.S. elections will speak at a Michigan Republican Party statewide conference.

Filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza and former Arizona GOP governor candidate Kari Lake were announced in recent days as speakers for the Michigan GOP’s annual Leadership Conference scheduled for Sept. 22-24 at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

Their attendance is the MIGOP’s latest embrace of voting conspiracies since election denier Kristina Karamo, who never conceded last November’s secretary of state race, was elected party chair in February. Karamo, D’Souza and Lake have all falsely claimed that Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election because of widespread voter fraud.

The MIGOP’s announcement of Lake on Monday came with a tease of “more” speakers to be released in the future.

“They will challenge the status quo,” the party’s conference website says of the speakers. “As we prepare to win in 2024 these conversations will push our party to a new level of excellence and cultural understanding.”

The authors’ analysis of Dinesh and his film 2000 Mules is a bit off, and my colleague Jennifer Van Laar debunked some of that nonsense in her article earlier this year Fact Checking the Fact Checkers: AP’s Hit Piece on ‘2000 Mules’ is Full of Holes.

Lake, on the other hand, is still looking for purpose and waffling between fighting claims of election fraud in her 2022 race for Governor and seemingly ticking off Trump by just hanging around Mar-a-Lago hoping Trump will pick her to be his V.P. for the 2024 race.

The one thing that I’m having trouble finding is any information on what Trump, Dinesh, or Kari have done to prepare the National GOP and, more importantly, the State GOP parties to prevent fraud in 2024. In case people have forgotten what they learned in a government class in high school, the states are actually the ones that gather every four years to hold a national election. The National GOP can help direct messaging across the country and supply some funds, but the groundwork has to be done on the state level.

The Michigan Republican Party has about $93,000 in its bank accounts 16 months before the November 2024 presidential election, a revelation GOP insiders said paints an alarming financial picture for a political party that had full control of state government five years ago.

The leadership team of Michigan Republican Party Chairwoman Kristina Karamo updated the state GOP committee on the party’s budget during a closed-door meeting at the Doherty Hotel in Clare on July 8. The Detroit News obtained a recording of the gathering that one participant described as a “Festivus-style airing of grievances,” complete with verbal feuding, a physical altercation and questions about how the party would be able to pay off its debts.

The discussion pulled back the curtain on details of the Michigan Republican Party’s finances that would normally remain secret and pointed to continued hesitations among longtime funders to open their wallets. While the party has some accounts that must file public reports on their contributors and expenditures, other accounts never have to, making it difficult to determine how much fundraising has occurred.

“What I will confirm right now is that we have $93,231.90 in our accounts,” the state committee’s budget chairman, Dan Bonamie, said at one point during the July 8 meeting. “We have not taken loans out. We are working on the debt.”

The party’s general counsel, Dan Hartman, volunteered during the state committee meeting that the GOP had previously been “threatened with default” on a loan. But Karamo said the state Republican Party was now working “side by side” with the bank.

Not even $94,000 dollars in the bank, just a smidge over a year until the biggest national election in your state and country’s history. That inspires confidence, doesn’t it?

So you can write off Michigan for 2024. Trump only won here in 2016 by 11,000 votes, and that was with a GOP state party that was not run into the ground.

So the question needs to be asked: since the 2020 election, what has the Republican party in all facets done to strengthen the controls from the ballot cast to being counted?

Ohio in 2012 went to Barrack Obama by about 2 percentage points, and yet in 2016 and 2020 went to Donald Trump by about 8 points in both election cycles. Has anyone from some of the former Republican strongholds like Georgia gone to Ohio and checked in with the Ohio GOP on how they’ve secured two presidential elections in a row?

Florida in 2012 went to Barack Obama by about half a percentage point and then went to Trump four years later by just over one point, and in 2020 went to Trump by 3 points. Has any of the election fraud crew checked in with the Florida GOP about how they recovered from the 2000 hanging chads incident to now going twice for Trump two times in a row?

Do I even need to remind people that Florida’s candidate for Governor in 2018, Ron DeSantis, barely won his race 49.6 to 49.2 and then, in 2022, crushed his opponent, who was well known in the Sunshine State, by almost 20 points? Obviously, Florida has found some success for the GOP that could be duplicated elsewhere.

Both Ohio and Florida, in our recent memory, went from blue to red, and you would think that those that are so damn sure fraud was everywhere would be working to stop it in 2024. Studying these two states, I believe, would be the most logical place to start.

After the Democrats lost the White House in 2016, they spent four long years planning how to get it back, which of course, included the Russia Hoax. So far, it looks like the GOP has spent a lot of time since 2020 making speeches and raising money but not doing anything concrete on the ground to secure a safe and fair election.

Unless that changes and the charges of election fraud in 2020 were real, then you can expect nothing less than another disappointing election night in November of 2024.
