When Fox News Congressional correspondent Chad Pergram does any reporting from the Hill, it is always a good thing to stop and listen because you will learn a thing or two. When he says that he was tipped off a couple of weeks ago that he should brush up on how the House and the Senate replace a Vice President of the United States, it might be a good time to pull the fire alarm in the West Wing if you are the current Vice President.
Our wonderful Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, has been the subject of some inside-the-beltway speculation for the past couple of months. This, to a certain degree, is always the case for any V.P. but in the Presidency of Joe “Corn Pop Was a Bad Dude” Biden, you should expect a bit more scrutiny and she is getting that in droves at the moment.
As my colleagues Mike Miller wrote here, Is Kamala Harris Just Weird? and Jennifer Oliver O’Connell wrote here, Kamala Harris Is the Poster Child of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion; It’s Not a Good Look the Veep has also been the talk on the pages here at Red State — yet for different reasons.
All of those reasons are pretty bad.
From Mikes’s piece above…
A quick glance at recent coverage of Harris paints a pretty good picture of our hapless vice president, about whom many Americans — including CNN and allegedly the Biden administration itself — are beginning to wonder if the lights are on but nobody’s home behind those laughs and faux moments of attempting to act as if she’s deep in thought before answering a reporter’s question.
One person with more than a few questions and an equal number of observations is columnist Kyle Smith, who in an opinion piece for The New York Post on Tuesday answered the question I asked — with a statement: “Kamala Harris is a very weird person.”
As Smith sees it, “it’s pretty clear everyone in the White House hates her and is blame-leaking to every reporter around in hopes of emerging from this explosion in the stink-bomb factory without carrying any failure fragrance.”
How can you not love that?
You know you must be hitting a bad streak when you are getting called weird and you hail from the state of Califonia which breeds weird for the world.
You win some and you lose some, Madame Veep.
However, when a seasoned reporter like Pergram utters aloud that he was given a heads up to start looking into how Congress replaces an elected Vice President of the United States, that should make everyone take a pause even if the VEEP is weird. What is going on here and how much smoke is needed before that alarm is pulled?
On Brett Baier’s program last night, Pergram dropped this li’l nugget about a cryptic email he received from a well-placed source in D.C. and it is mighty interesting. From Breitbart News …
Just to let you guys in on a little secret here, I was told about 2 to 3 weeks ago, maybe this pertains to the Supreme Court, maybe this pertains to changing the ticket before you get into 2024. FDR seemingly burned through a vice president almost every time he was up for office.
“But I got an email from somebody who really knows this place very well, who said, ‘Chad, start to familiarize yourself with the confirmation process just not in the Senate but the House for a vice president,’” he added.
As Pergram noted, America has not been through a confirmation of a vice president since President Gerald Ford selected liberal Republican Nelson Rockefeller after assuming the presidency in the wake of President Nixon’s resignation.
“As you know, Brett, I’m always playing defense and preparing for things like that, but I was very surprised to get that very cryptic email just a couple of weeks ago,” Pergram admitted.
Maybe this is just all palace intrigue and possibly this is just staffers griping because someone did not say hello to them.
Yet there are only a couple of possibilities here. Joe Biden steps down as President and Kamala gets the big seat, or she steps down to take her cackling tour out of Washington D.C. and back to Cali. I don’t see any possibility of her stepping down after getting the golden ticket she did in 2020 so that option is out the window. I also don’t see Joe going anywhere either as long as they can prop him up to point and growl at Peter Doocy. Way too many people have waited for Joe to get to this position and they won’t let him ride off into the sunset even if he had to. The power of the presidency is way too intoxicating.
The fact that just ten months into the Let’s Go Brandon presidency we have rumors like this being bandied about is not a good sign for those at the White House or Democrats in general as I wrote about here earlier Newest Polling Numbers for 2022 Elections Suggest Speaker Pelosi Is Toast.
In all fairness, this is not good for the country either. Neither are high inflation, historically high gas prices, supply chain interruptions, and the Chinese and Russians mocking us on the international stage.
Maybe Chad’s next tip will be that he needs to look into how Congress replaces both the President and Vice President at the same time, being they want to spend more time with family.
You never know, it could happen.
