Occasionally, a story just writes itself and is done by a tweet.

I think it is safe to say that Donald Trump, who is in his 70’s, has taken to twitter like a 20 something and with the same zeal. Even before he was President, Trump loved to tweet out his comments on whatever the topic of the day was. Gone are the days of seeing the POTUS account tweet something and look for the tag B.O. at the end of a tweet to see if it was Barrack Obama, you know Trump is doing all the tweeting.

So it is not really a surprise that he has carried that penchant for tweeting over to his Presidency and people both love it and hate it with a passion. This tweet from yesterday I feel perfectly sums up his style of pushback using Twitter as his main weapon.

President Trump does not want to go through the normal channels of how to respond to something, he wants to hit the twitter app and push to 280 characters as fast as he can to roll back the narrative. This tweet shows that he is readily admitting this is not how POTUS business has been done before and he really doesn’t care.

He is going to fight back. Case in point.

Currently, the media has been running wild about the deal announced to avoid tariffs on Mexico made by POTUS in a tweet Friday. The New York Times ran this piece Saturday about it Mexico Agreed to Take Border Actions Months Before Trump Announced Tariff Deal. The crux of the story is that this was brokered back in March so big whoop dee doo.

No matter how you feel on tariffs is not the point at this moment. Here we were in June and they still had not implemented the measures to slow down illegal immigration on the Mexcian southern border. Trump just sped that process up to get it going ASAP.

So instead of waiting for others in the media to fact check with NYT, Trump took to Twitter for these statements…

If President Obama made the deals that I have made, both at the Border and for the Economy, the Corrupt Media would be hailing them as Incredible, & a National Holiday would be immediately declared. With me, despite our record setting Economy and all that I have done, no credit!

Now I fully understand why people don’t like this. We generally like our Presidents very polished and measured in how they act and what they say. President Obama was very smooth and was very adept at smacking people down but making it sound peachy, even when he was kinda calling you a racist. This isn’t Obama’s first foray into a racially charged situation.

Trump is 100% the opposite and his loyal base would have it no other way.

Does this drive his communications staff bonkers? No doubt. Could this blowback on him? Sure.

Yet we currently have a President who has been more accessible than any other in my memory, in front of a camera, on the radio or on his weapon of choice. Twitter.

America will never be the same.
