There goes Kanye being Kanye.

Rapper and Media Mogul in the making, Kanye West, has once again gone and defended President Trump. This time he did it on the cranky old man of the talk show circuit and hater of Trump, David Letterman’s show.

According to Newsweek…

“This is like my thing with Trump — we don’t have to feel the same way, but we have the right to feel what we feel,” West tells Letterman, adding that his choice to wear a MAGA cap isn’t about politics but removing the pre-conceived notions about Trump and his supporters, the Daily Beast said.

Letterman then asks if West voted for the president in the 2016 presidential election. West says he has never voted.

“Then you don’t have a say in this,” Letterman replies.

Afterward, Letterman brings up voter suppression during the 2018 midterm elections, something which West sidesteps to say that he feels sorry for Trump supporters because they are “treated like enemies of America.”

Don’t we all at some point feel like enemies of the state even if we don’t support politician X?

Yet Kanye does have a point here. I do not recall anyone that was wearing a hope and change shirt or the cutesy Obama “O” sunset being attacked for wearing that apparel. How many videos have you personally seen where someone is attacked for wearing a Trump hat in public or even on schools grounds where tolerance is preached 24/7?

Probably a few.

One thing in the quote above from Letterman that is not touched upon often is the notion that if you don’t vote you don’t have a say. That is total nonsense. In case Dave has forgotten his buddy Keith Olbermann of rage at MSNBC fame also says he does not vote. So I guess Keith is in the same boat right, Dave? Maybe that line of reasoning is just reserved for rappers who support Trump though.

Letterman, you dope.

We just celebrated Memorial Day yesterday and honored those that sacrificed for our right to do a lot of things. Even be ambivalent.

How many times have you gone into a voting booth and just hung your head at the options on the ballot? I’m willing to bet a lot. So while it would be great to have more people vote it would also be great to have more people be allowed to express their opinions freely without fear of having hats or signs ripped from them.

That is Kanye’s main point and it is a good one. Shame that Letterman missed it and went for the cheap talking point.

No wonder he lagged in second place behind Leno damn near his whole career.
