We all knew this was coming.
A few weeks ago, as RedState reported, news emerged that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials were looking to add "shock gloves" to the tools available to them when detaining illegal aliens and executing immigration raids.
An official Department of Homeland Security (DHS) acquisition planning document released Monday shows the agency is getting ready to spend up to $20 million on a somewhat whiz-bangy new piece of law-enforcement gear capable of delivering an electrical jolt to help agents subdue individuals who might resist during a detainment.
As we speculated at the time, Democrats and their leftist foot soldiers were not going to like this one bit because they're so laser-focused on keeping illegals in the country.

Right on cue, here come the Dems throwing around words like "torture" and "inhumane." It bears pointing out that these are the same people who go silent when Americans are murdered by illegal alien thugs, but that's the modern-day Democrat Party for you.

The American Left is nothing if not predictable.
Democrats on the House Homeland Security Committee are reportedly now calling for DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin to abandon the plan to acquire the gloves, imploring him to "halt this procurement before more innocent lives are lost.”
“Under the Trump administration, ICE has repeatedly violated the law and disregarded its own policies on the use of force, shooting 23 people and killing 6, including 3 U.S. citizens. Many of these individuals were not the target of immigration enforcement operations and, in some cases, they were simply exercising their First Amendment rights. As we have raised in previous letters, DHS personnel have also permanently injured and nearly killed innocent people with so-called ‘less-lethal’ weapons, not unlike the G.L.O.V.E.,” Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) wrote in the letter to Mullin.
“Indeed, ICE has demonstrated a pattern of misusing tools and devices, including rubber bullets and chemical sprays, in manners that put the public at greater risk of serious injury or death.”
They're going to need a bigger fainting couch.
The company that makes the technology, Compliant Technologies, says the devices operate pretty much like a normal pair of regulation gloves until the officer presses a switch that activates the electrical mode.
“It’s immediate and sharp, and it will distract you. I call it like a bee sting,” said John Peters, president of the Institute for the Prevention of In-Custody Deaths, which is studying how law enforcement is currently using the gloves. “If the officer is getting any type of resistance from the person, this is certainly an effective tool.”

If it's good enough for an unruly teen, it's certainly good enough for an illegal alien who's fighting with an ICE agent during a lawful arrest. DHS should be buying them by the truckful.
