You know when the lefties have received their anti-Trump talking points because they all emerge at the same time, guns ablazing, to pile onto the president about something no one else cares about (or maybe even supports). Even if what they're told to be mad about actually happened weeks ago.
Of course, no one ever accused the left of being quick on the uptake.
This is what seems to be happening this week with the issue of "DEI bike lanes." That's a phrase used by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy back on July 7 when announcing a new Department of Transportation project to redirect $1.73 billion earmarked for "DEI pet projects" by the Biden administration into fixing "America's backbone."
"Remember when Biden and Boot-edge-edge used YOUR MONEY for DEI bike lanes and climate change?" tweeted Duffy. "THAT’S OVER."

THAT’S OVER

For context, Duffy was mocking the Biden administration for prioritizing “equity” and climate policy in its federal infrastructure grant program, which was literally called "Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity." Biden's transportation secretary, Pete Buttigieg, advised grant applicants (emphasis mine):
As was the case last year, the Department is encouraging applicants to consider how their projects can address climate change, ensure racial equity, and remove barriers to opportunity. The Department also intends to use the RAISE program to support wealth creation and the creation of good-paying jobs with the free and fair choice to join a union, the incorporation of strong labor standards, and training and placement programs, especially registered apprenticeships.
So, when Duffy announced the monies from the Biden project would be diverted to "roads, bridges, ports, transit, rail and truck parking, he was deliberately being provocative – and entirely correct! – in calling them "DEI bike lanes."
And the provocation worked, although the reactions from the left curiously didn't start rolling in until Thursday.
Rolling Stone got its knickers in a twist. It's dumb!
COMMENTARY: It doesn’t get much dumber than Donald Trump and Sean Duffy’s war on “DEI bike lanes”https://t.co/Y99dEdh1vX

Ditto for The Guardian. Trump's going to kill all the bikers!
US push to defund ‘DEI bike lanes’ will make roads less safe, advocates say https://t.co/pRuouNT2gb

Uber-lefty Fast Company got a day's jump on things by whining that the Trump administration is "politicizing urban design." Way to completely ignore the fact that they're doing the exact opposite and de-politicizing it!
The whole thing is pretty hilarious. Biden and Buttigieg openly championed a transportation policy that prioritized racial equity, climate dogma, and pretty much every other left-wing fetish they could find. And the Trump administration is having some fun undoing the nonsense, but, really, their ultimate reward is watching the left pedal itself into a shrieking frenzy over the horrifying prospect of taxpayer dollars actually being spent on roads, bridges, and ports.
Now, if the Trump administration could just do something about bikers.
(Also, change my mind: Sean Duffy gets up every day determined to nuke Pete Buttigieg's chances of ever running for president.)
