President Trump started off his very busy Wednesday by hinting some good news may be in the making when it comes to Iran and the United States's continuing military action there, which is now is in its second month. In a Truth Social post, the president wrote that "Iran's New Regime President" has asked for a ceasefire, something Trump said he'd consider "when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear."
Until the strait is reopened, warned the president, "we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!"
It's still not entirely clear who this new "regime president" with whom productive talks seem to be taking place actually is, but President Trump referred to the possible peacemaker as "much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors."

Iran’s New Regime President, much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE! We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!! President DJT
There doesn't seem to be an official response from Iran yet to President Trump's post signaling a ceasefire could be in the offing, but Secretary of War Pete Hegseth had a cheeky reaction.

On late Tuesday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi indicated in an interview with al Jazeera that Tehran is willing to keep fighting. “You cannot speak to the people of Iran in the language of threats and deadlines,” he said. “We do not set any deadline for defending ourselves.”
The note of cautious optimism from Trump – albeit couched in unambiguous threats of dire consequences if the Strait of Hormuz situation isn't adequately addressed – comes amidst a broader discussion about the growing divide between the U.S. and her supposed allies in NATO. As RedState's Bonchie wrote Wednesday morning, "Despite not being asked to directly participate in the conflict against Iran, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Spain, among others, have put up roadblocks, repeatedly shifting on something as simple as base usage, and even denying the use of airspace for cargo transit."

To date, Spain has closed its airspace to the U.S. military and will not allow use of its bases for operations in Iran, France has refused overflight rights for certain U.S./Israeli military flights connected to the operatioin, Italy has denied access for U.S. military aircraft to land at Sigonella in connection with Iran-related strikes, and the United Kingdom has taken a decidedly "not our war" stance.
On Tuesday, President Trump, while noting that the U.S. got involved in Ukraine despite is not being "our war," warned European leaders that the U.S. “won’t be there to help you anymore” and advised them, as their countries face oil shortages and skyrocketing fuel prices, to "build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT.”
After attending oral arguments on birthright citizenship at the Supreme Court Wednesday morning, President Trump will spend the afternoon at an Easter lunch and attending policy meetings before addressing the nation on the topic of Iran at 9 p.m. ET.
Editor's Note: For decades, former presidents have been all talk and no action. Now, Donald Trump is eliminating the threat from Iran once and for all.
