Media to Trump During First 80 Days: No Honeymoon For You!

Rather unsurprisingly, a study of President Trump’s first eighty days in office has revealed that media honeymoon periods are only for Democrat administrations. The Media Research Center analyzed all evening news reports from ABC, CBS, and NBC during the time period of January 20 through April 9, and concluded that a whopping 89% of the Trump coverage was negative.

This is in stark contrast to the beginning of the Obama administration, when many network news hours were devoted to thrills going up legs and other buffoonery disguised as journalism. Harken back, if you will, to February 20, 2009, when Nightline‘s always-odious Terry Moran said this about Barack Obama:

“I like to say that, in some ways, Barack Obama is the first President since George Washington to be taking a step down into the Oval office.”

Good golly, yes! Get that man a Nobel Prize, stat. The Media Research Center concluded back in 2009 that media coverage during Obama’s first weeks in office was 58% positive. For those of you keeping score at home, that’s 42% negative Obama coverage versus Trump’s 89%.

The Media Research Center also concluded that Trump has received the most hostile treatment from the press than any other incoming president.

“The networks largely ignored important national priorities such as jobs and the fight against ISIS, in favor of a news agenda that has been dominated by anti-Trump controversies and which closely matches what would be expected from an opposition party.”

While the media steadfastly ignores stories that might actually, you know, inform and educate their viewers, they’re certainly up to the task of echoing Democrat talking points. CBS’s Scott Pelley appeared to have gotten his news copy straight from the DNC this past March 8th, when he posed this question of Leon Panetta: “Is it appropriate to ask whether the President is having difficulty with rationality?”

So, no, there hasn’t been a honeymoon period for Trump. And, no, the media doesn’t appear to have learned anything from Trump’s election and the role they – and their unabashed liberal biases – played in putting him in the Oval Office. Much to his delight.
