Alright, Alright, Alright: A Former Colleague Steps Forward to Tell of the Roy Moore She Remembers

Um… Ok.

While there has been speculation, accusation, and denial over the recently surfaced charges against Republican Senate candidate, Roy Moore, actual evidence has run thin, at best.

I personally would hope that the accusations are not true, as Moore insists.

Moore has been accused of dating teen girls, while working in the Etowah County District Attorney’s Office from 1977 to 1982.

The worst of the accusations involve a 14 year old, when Moore would have been about 32 years old.

Leigh Corfman told the Washington Post that Moore insinuated himself into her life, then attempted what amounted to inappropriate touching.

She said she held her secret all these years, simply because she has several failed marriages and a messy background.

Judging by the reactions of those who have rushed to defend Moore, it’s easy to see why she would have been hesitant. The attacks began immediately.

Others have come forward to say they dated Moore when they were between 16 and 18 years old.

Moore has denied Corfman’s account, but on Sean Hannity’s program on Friday, he didn’t actually deny dating teen girls. He said something along the lines of not remembering dating teens.

Well… apparently some of his former colleagues have better memories.

In a statement to CNN, Teresa Jones, who served as deputy district attorney for Etowah County, Ala., from 1982 until 1985, said that multiple people thought it was unusual that Moore dated high school girls, but that no one ever raised the matter with him.

“It was common knowledge that Roy Moore dated high school girls, everyone we knew thought it was weird,” Jones told CNN. “We wondered why someone his age would hang out at high school football games and the mall … but you really wouldn’t say anything to someone like that.”

Seriously?

You might say, “Hey, Wooderson? Why are you hitting on all those teenaged girls?”

Or maybe, “Geez, Chester. She’s a little young for you, don’t you think?”

But that was nearly 40 years ago – a different time, with different attitudes. Since then, the man has married and for at least what the eye can see, has ended his pursuit of his own, personal Lolita.

Good for him.

Still, there’s at least one voice that isn’t accusing him of the worst of the charges, but is willing to speak up and say the Roy Moore she knew way back then liked them young.
