WATCH: First Arrest Made in Case of Destruction of Historic Monument in Durham, NC

One down.

Earlier today, I talked to you about the Socialist thugs that pulled down a 100-year old monument of a Confederate soldier in Durham, North Carolina and discussed whether this is something we should be celebrating (it isn’t).

Their goal is not to take a stand against the long-past practice of slavery, or a war between states that ended over 150 years ago.

The goal is to cause chaos and unrest, to create havoc, and wreck the American system of government.

They are not noble freedom fighters, so we can stop playing the violins for them. They claimed this was in response to the violence in Charlottesville last Saturday, which is about as dumb of an excuse to destroy public property as I can imagine.

Durham County Sheriff Mike Andrews issued a statement, saying they would be using the videos of the destruction to make arrests, and tonight, the first arrest has been made.

Investigators said that Takiya Thompson admitted to climbing and helping to bring down the statue. She was taken into custody after a press conference on North Carolina Central University’s campus.

She is charged with disorderly conduct by injury to a statue, damage to real property, participation in a riot with property damage in excess of $1,500 and inciting others to riot where there is property damage in excess of $1,500.

Good.

This was not a freedom fighter. This was a vandal and a petty criminal, at best.

Authorities had spoken with the rally organizers before Monday’s event, and realized there could potentially be vandalism, but rather than step in and try to stop them from destroying the monument, they chose to hang back, not trusting these miscreants from attempting to recreate Saturday’s events.

Let’s hope more arrests are made. These should not be the last voices heard on this issue.
