A week ago I wrote a piece explaining the spiritual base for my objection to Donald Trump, as president.

I’ve actually written several such pieces. “High and Mighty…” was just the most recent. It’s becoming increasingly difficult for me to believe some who speak of their Christianity while promoting Trump are not doing so, simply in an absence of support for any other given religion.

Christianity becomes “it” by default, rather than an actual practice of the faith or belief in an active, living God. That’s the sense I get, at least. Whether they’re actually practicing what they preach, I don’t know. Nobody is perfect. We can’t be perfect. We can only try and pray for the grace to grow.

That being said, somebody needs to go check on Fox News’ Judge Jeanine Pirro. The woman has lost her mind. If she’s not careful, she might lose a lot more.

While engaging in one of her typical, unhinged rants in defense of the Trump name, she said something so ludicrous, and so completely anti-Christian, it was like a neon sign, blaring out every problem I have with the way people defend Trump, at the expense of everything else.

In a way that far too many, including Christians, will brush off or take lightly, Pirro dug in and gave her thoughts on the controversy now surrounding Donald Trump Jr – the self-inflicted wound following news of his meeting with a Russian lawyer, for the purpose of getting Russian-supplied oppo-research on Hillary Clinton.

Said Pirro:

“As someone who’s run for office five times, if the Devil called me and said he wanted to set up a meeting to give me opposition research on my opponent, I’d be on the first trolley to Hell to get it,” Pirro said Sunday on “Justice with Judge Jeanine.”

“And any politician who tells you otherwise is a bald-faced liar.”

Somebody get this woman help. She wanted to blow it off as Trump Jr’s inexperience, but is that really an excuse?

First of all, while I don’t doubt that there are politicians out there who would see themselves as slick enough to possibly get away with such a trick, I’m going to say there are enough of them out there who are also smart enough to know what kind of trouble they’d be buying by accepting help from a hostile foreign government.

Pirro went on:

“There is no law that says a campaign cannot accept information from a foreign government,” Pirro said.

A campaign cannot accept funds or contributions from a foreign government, company, or individual, but we’re beyond that, on this issue.

There is an active investigation into collusion, as well as obstruction and this was trouble the Trump camp did not need.

When you hear fanatical defenses like that coming from Pirro on Sunday, it’s worrisome. Some of the top supporters of the president have become desperate to prove their loyalty to the man above the well-being of the nation.

To be clear, I don’t think Pirro was actually making a deal with the devil, here. I do, however, have a problem with how casually she said it, and how many are willing to accept her level of zeal, in protection of Trump.
