Mega GOP Donor Adelson "Furious" With Secretary Of State Tillerson's Israel Comments

Sheldon Adelson is a pretty big deal, when it comes to Republican politics.

Adelson is a billionaire with deep pockets, when it comes to doling out campaign cash to Republican candidates, and he’s also fiercely pro-Israel.

So how did Mr. Adelson feel about Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s comments about moving the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, and its contingency resting on a peace deal?

Well, not good.

Republican mega-donor Sheldon Adelson — a man who has no trouble getting the President on the phone — is “furious” about comments Secretary of State Rex Tillerson made today on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” according to two sources with knowledge of Adelson’s reaction.

Tillerson’s comments suggest that President Trump, rather than the definitive declaration that the U.S. embassy, without question, would be moved to Jerusalem – a move that would signal that the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the eternal, true capital of Israel – is worried about the same things that every other president before him was worried about.

Namely: How can we further force Israel to comply to a “peace” deal that inevitably achieves no peace and requires Israel give up more and more, whether it be land or lives?

The sources say the Las Vegas billionaire doesn’t buy the argument that the embassy move should be contingent on the peace process. He has told Trump that Palestinians are impossible negotiating partners and make demands that Israel can never meet.

See? That’s pretty much just what I said.

It really is kind of a bait-and-switch.

Out of many campaign promises that Trump made, he touted himself to be a friend of Israel and suggested that he would do what no other president before him would do. Now… maybe not so much.

He’s previously remarked that there was no reason why there couldn’t be peace between Israel and Palestine – a comment so tone deaf to decades of conflict that it defies all bounds of reality.

He’s also said that his son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, would be the one capable of bringing that long-sought peace to the Middle East.

Well, snap to it, Jared. We’re all waiting.
