Trump Twitter Targets FBI And Leaks From The Agency

President Trump took to Twitter today for his near-daily bashing of another U.S. agency.

Today’s target was the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Since becoming president, Trump has had a testy relationship with U.S. intelligence agencies. Only his relationship with the media has been worse.

This latest complaint is very likely in response to a report from CNN. In the report, White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus reached out to the FBI and asked that they tell reporters that any stories connecting Trump associates to Russian intelligence were false.

Uh… that’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works.

According to CNN, FBI Director James Comey refused that request because the investigation is ongoing. Critics have alleged this is an example of the White House interfering in an FBI investigation, an agency that is supposed to be independent of White House influence.

It’s not just the intelligence agencies that have to worry about leaks.

Trump’s own administration has been plagued with leaks from the moment he took office.

So far, the exact source has yet to be determined, although various rumors suggest in-fighting between the Priebus camp and the Bannon camp has led to some information making its way out to the media.

Trump may want to cool his Twitter jets and let the FBI finish their investigation before he heaps any more derision on their doorsteps.

He’s only a month in. A lot can happen over the next four years, and he will need them again. He should do his best to mend those relationships early, then get out of their way.
