Kay Hagan, former Democrat Senator from North Carolina, was rushed to a Washington D.C. hospital on Thursday, but her family is keeping her condition closely guarded, at this time.
According to ABC11.com, she fell seriously ill, and is now in the intensive care unit.
Hagan’s brother, Joe L. Ruthven, said she did not have a heart attack nor is she in a coma. The family asked that further details surrounding her illness not be released.
Hagan served as a United States Senator from North Carolina from 2009 to 2015. She previously served in the North Carolina Senate from 1999 to 2009 and is a member of the Democratic Party.
Some are speculating that she may have suffered a stroke.
Kay Hagan narrowly lost her seat to Thom Tillis in the 2014 election.
Prayers going up for Senator Hagan.
