McFarland has worked under three Republican administrations and is currently a national security analyst for Fox News.
In 2006, McFarland ran for Senate in an effort to oust Hillary Clinton, who was New York’s Democratic senator at the time. McFarland was defeated in the Republican primary by John Spencer, who ultimately lost to the former first lady.
McFarland, who offered to be a “foot soldier” for Trump’s movement, partners with retired Lt. General Michael Flynn, who was reportedly pegged to be Trump’s national security adviser last week.
