In Ohio, Trump Dips Into His Well of Absurdity

This is what delusion and desperation sounds like.

Speaking in Ohio on Thursday, Donald Trump dipped into the absurd, before adoring fans, who will, no doubt, be parroting these sentiments all over social media through the weekend.

“Just thinking to myself right now, we should just cancel the election and just give it to Trump,” the Republican presidential nominee said during a rally here on Thursday.

“Her policies are so bad. Boy, do we have a big difference,” he added of his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say he wasn’t serious, here. He was kidding around.

With Trump, you can never be too sure.

That won’t stop his devotees from running with that ball, however. This is especially true, given his repeated suggestions that the election is being rigged, even before the final votes are cast.

Trump has called the election “rigged,” argued that the media and establishment politicians are conspiring to sink his campaign and warned supporters that the presidency could be stolen from them due to voter fraud — instances of which are extremely rare.

Trump is trailing Clinton in national tracking polls and in key battleground states, and its unclear how Trump can amass the Electoral College votes needed to win the presidency if polls hold where they are through Election Day.

He has spent his entire candidacy bringing out the worst in people, and despite the faith leaders who want to proclaim him a changed man, he continues to revel in chaos.

If I haven any concerns about the day after the election, it’s about what his followers will do if he loses. At this point, I do not trust them to act in socially appropriate or responsible ways.

They are, after all, Branch Trumpidian cultists, and he has invested far too much into whipping them into a frothing rage at our system.
