Even as Mike Pence is set to campaign for Cruz in Indiana, the gilded toad is basking in his own inflated sense of importance.

Yes, Donald Trump feels that Pence’s endorsement of Ted Cruz last week was some sort of undercover, backhanded endorsement of him.

“If you really take a look at Mike Pence, I think he gave me more of an endorsement than Ted Cruz,” Trump told Fox News’ Chris Wallace.

“His donors and special interests obviously made him give an endorsement,” the billionaire added.

It’s true that Governor Pence’s endorsement of Senator Cruz was a bit late in coming, and when it did come, it was lukewarm, at best. Said Pence at the time:

“I’m not against anybody, but I will be voting for Ted Cruz in the Republican primary,” Pence told Indiana-based radio host Greg Garrison.

However, Pence may be seeking to solidify that endorsement with his appearances on the trail with Cruz. These appearances should leave little doubt of the candidate he’s chosen.

It is unclear what, if any, impact the Pence endorsement will have for Cruz. Current polls show Trump leading Cruz. The latest NBC News/WSJ/Marist poll has Trump 15 points ahead.
