Lesson for the US Navy: Our Greatest Strengths Are Not What the Cultural Marxists Think They Are

(CVN-71)

Cultural Marxism has seeped into virtually every nook and cranny of America these days, including in the United States Navy. In keeping with policy directives stemming from The Hologram’s Executive Order on “Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government,” as accelerated by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and his henchman Bishop Garrison, whose title is “Senior Advisor to The Secretary of Defense on Human Capital and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (see here and here), each of the military services has saluted the directed social engineering insanity at the expense of military readiness, morale, and unit cohesion with scarcely a whimper.

An article last week exposed the US Marine Corps’ genuflection to the Secretary’s social engineering directives, and now it is the Navy’s turn under the klieg lights of public scrutiny. A memorandum from the Secretary of the Navy on 3 May directed “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Planning Actions” for the Navy Department. Everything in that memorandum is pabulum, including the assertions in the very first sentence. We will dissect that memorandum and expose the lies after a bit of background.

The Marxists’ stealth onslaught to destroy our constitutional Republic began in the 1930s, as the virus that was the Frankfurt School escaped Adolph Hitler’s clutches by moving to Columbia University in New York City in 1934. This was where the crackpot critical theory and Marxist dialectics viruses germinated, mutated, and ultimately infected nearly all of Academia, aided and abetted over the decades by organizations like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), National Lawyer’s Guild, Children’s Defense Fund, Southern Poverty Law Center, and other high-minded-sounding entities.

Note: the Marxists have been camouflaging their actions through the perversion of the English language from the very beginning. “Critical theory” is but one example. The phrase is benign but hides a sinister and destructive intent:

[C]ritical theorists maintain that a primary goal of philosophy is to understand and to help overcome the social structures through which people are dominated and oppressed.

Critical theory and all of its mutations and spinoffs over the years (e.g., postmodernism, constructivism, intersectionality, social justice, environmental justice, etc.) all sound good in the abstract, but when put into practice in America are exposed as divisive tactics aimed at undermining and ultimately destroying our cultural and political institutions in favor of ephemeral, arbitrary, and changing socialist goals for American society. The latest mutation – critical race theory – is particularly divisive and dangerous and is just the latest manifestation of Marxist divide-and-conquer political tactics, as described here (emphasis added):

[Critical race theory] is being used to promote estrangement rather than friendship, and hostility rather than goodwill. … [C]ritical race theory’s agitators are committed to tearing down civil society on the pretense that it is an incubator for “systemic racism.”

[T]oday’s critical race theory agitators call for a form of race consciousness that breeds in themselves the same sort of blind hate. Ironically, they’re like a photographic negative, a mirror image of the segregationists in Jim Crow days. We have been assaulted with many other forms of “consciousness” intended to sow hostilities and lawlessness: immigrant status, gender identity, sexual identity, and on and on. We are being overwhelmed.

[And ultimately, critical race theory is] nothing but a vehicle for a power grab by elitists in the circles of academia, media, and Big Tech.

Yes, indeed, we are being overwhelmed! Does the above – coupled with the street violence that promotes the ideology in the form of “Black Lives Matter” – seem like something that the majority of Americans would support? It only appears that way through the amplification bull horns of the legacy media and the enablers in the Democrat Party.

The infusion of cultural Marxism into all facets of American life, language, and politics is nearly complete, with the Democrat Party having been totally captured in 2020 and the last bastions of American cultural traditions in the US military being overrun by Democrat policymakers and other assorted Communists.

Which brings us back to that 3 May SECNAV memo. Here is the premise made in the very first sentence, which we are supposed to take on faith as the “gospel truth”:

Equal opportunity is the bedrock of our democracy and diversity is one of our greatest strengths; both are critical to the readiness of our Navy and Marine Corps team and, ultimately, to our mission success.

As with nearly every bold assertion by Marxists, virtually everything in that sentence is wrong:

  • Despite continuous Democrat propaganda for decades, we live in a constitutional Republic, not a democracy. If we lived in a pure democracy (which is what the Democrat Party effectively advocates by their continuing efforts to undermine the checks and balances placed in the Constitution by the Founders), we would be experiencing the “tyranny of the majority.”
  • The bedrock of our constitutional Republic is the US Constitution. “Equal opportunity” is a political ideal that has evolved over the years, especially during and since the civil rights era in the 1950s and 1960s, and is even being replaced in 2021 by The Hologram regime’s Marxist-derived word “equity.” Equal opportunities do not result in equal outcomes, as other factors are involved (e.g., intelligence, initiative, and inspiration), but the leftist concept of “equity’ intends to ensure equal outcomes – or unequal outcomes as required in order to make up for perceived past inequities – with the government as the guarantor. “Equity” – as defined by the Marxist Democrats – is a wholly alien and un-American concept.
  • Diversity is NOT one of our “greatest strengths.” On the contrary, it is a perversion that highlights divisiveness among Americans by focusing on our differences rather than our shared experiences as individuals. Diversity is at the core of the Left’s identity politics in the US. It promotes racism by highlighting superficial differences of race and color by pitting racial, ethnic, religious, and other leftist-defined groups against each other. Diversity is the Left’s wedge against the enduring strength of American society – our ability to assimilate people of every “race, color, and creed” into American life. It is not a coincidence that leftists never use the phrase “melting pot of America” anymore because that is not their objective; they seek to divide Americans as a political tactic for them to gain power and reward victims groups (their supporters), as well as to punish those supposedly benefiting from “systemic racism” (their political opponents).
  • The assertion that “equal opportunity” and “diversity” are critical to Navy and Marine Corps readiness is completely unfounded. It is merely a claim unproven by any objective analysis. Diversity is irrelevant in a foxhole, in a main battle tank, in a SEAL or special forces team, in the cockpit, or in a ship’s combat information center. What matters is competence, combat effectiveness, discipline, morale, and team cohesion, all of which are undermined by a focus on diversity under the guise of critical race theory. For example, how does the blatant assumption and promotion of “systemic racism,” as critical race theorists claim exists in all white Americans, improve discipline, morale, and team cohesion?

To summarize, every premise in that first statement is wrong – and blatantly so. Our greatest strengths as a country are assimilation and the personal and economic liberties guaranteed under the US Constitution. Here is a political axiom to remember: just because a Marxist bureaucrat (or politician) states something as fact does not make it so no matter how many times it is repeated.

And if the basic premise of the memorandum is wrong, then the actions proposed in it serve a different purpose than the purported premise claims. The Marxists’ real goal is to create a woke military incapable of defending the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, as their sworn oaths require. And that is EXACTLY what is happening in US Navy and the other services through the administrative actions of Marxists in the White House and their minions in the Pentagon like Austin, Garrison, and the acting secretary of the Navy.

The end.
