Last night, President Trump used the attention attracted to the horrendous and barbaric infanticide law pushed by Virginia Democrats to make the strongest statement against the neo-pagan ritual of abortion of any president in my lifetime:

There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our nation saw in recent days. Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth. These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world. And then, we had the case of the governor of virginia where he stated he would execute a baby after birth. To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking the Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb. Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life.

And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth — all children — born and unborn — are made in the holy image of God…

The language caught people’s attention.

It is about time that someone on the national stage had the nerve to declare exactly what happens during an abortion. As Mike Ford noted yesterday, if you control the language you control the argument. Too long we’ve gone along with the neutral, pseudo-medical descriptions of a practice that has no therapeutic value and is overwhelmingly practiced for the convenience of the woman. If we argue what happens during the procedure and continue to point out that “late-term abortion,” by definition, includes the right to kill the child up until the umbilical cord is severed and, absent a ‘born alive abortion survivors’ law, even beyond that point if the woman (I’m not going to use the term ‘mother’) decides before delivery that she wants an abortion, then the communications and public relations challenge facing pro-aborts is much tougher than it is when we go along with mumbo-jumbo about choice.

Chuck Schumer smirked and giggled while Trump described late term abortion. The Democrat women sat and scowled when Trump declared that all babies have the right to life. The Democrat Party has become cartoonishly evil at this point.

However, one of the marks of an active mind is the willingness to accept new ideas and information. Ronald Reagan started out his political life as a Democrat and a union official. I can tell you that in the early 90s, I was not opposed to abortion and just wanted the issue out of the public domain so I didn’t have to deal with it.

Hopefully, raising the profile of the issue in very strong language, many others, like my younger self, will be forced to confront what they are tacitly supporting: the slaughter of over a million innocent Americans each year.
