Sen. Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, speaks at a news conference as he visits students of Year Up Chicago, a one-year long job training program that provides low-income young adults, Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, in Chicago. The senator present at a White House immigration meeting says President Donald Trump used vulgar language to describe African countries, saying he “said these hate filled things and he said them repeatedly.” (AP Photo/Kiichiro Sato)
A little earlier today, the Senate Judiciary Committee launched an unprecedented personal smear on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. This was the setup. The majority staff from the Senate Judiciary Committee sent out this tweet to emphasize that this current FBI background investigation would not be the first Kavanaugh has undergone.
Nowhere in any of these six FBI reports, which the committee has reviewed on a bipartisan basis, was there ever a whiff of ANY issue – at all – related in any way to inappropriate sexual behavior or alcohol abuse. 2/2

It got this reply from Dick Durbin:
This tweet is not accurate. Committee Republicans must correct it. See our letter here: https://t.co/trJ9ymDjee https://t.co/cCVpAwCzEI

In the letter, this is the operative section
The letter clearly leads the reader to believe that there are allegations of sexual impropriety or misconduct with alcohol contained in those background reports.
Nothing in the tweet is inaccurate or misleading. The committee stands by its statement, which is completely truthful. More baseless innuendo and more false smears from Senate Democrats. https://t.co/x7VUEKnFRV

What makes Durbin’s allegation obvious hogwash is that two Judiciary Democrats, Coons and Klobuchar, refused to sign it. Had there been actual information in the file, they would have had no problem in signing on as they are already on the record opposing Kavanaugh. Further indication that this is just cheap character assassination is that the Democrats have had access to Kavanaugh’s previous six background checks since his nomination was announced. In the nearly 40 hours that Kavanaugh has testified under oath, no one has raised any of these issues, even during the hearing last Thursday when sexual misconduct and alcohol abuse were the main subjects. And, probably the key point, the New York Times and Washington Post have not been fed the derogatory information. Durbin is claiming that secret information exists and that we must trust him in his assertion. That isn’t a good bet.
We’ve known since the heyday of the Iraq war that Dick Durbin was a man without honor, without principle, without scruple, and without manhood. His disgusting conduct is to be expected. Now we see that Durbin actually represented the values of the Democrat party.
Me musing in court today: The next step in our devolution into Malaysian politics is for the opposition to claim they have secret documents they can't disclose that will destroy some important government official. Haha, we're not that far gone.
