Up front, I’ll state that it is my opinion that the allegation made by Christine Ford against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is a fraud. But yesterday something happened that leads me to believe that we aren’t out of the maze of politically motivated sexaual assault allegations.
Yesterday, this now-deleted post appeared on the Facebook page of a classmate of Christine Ford, Cristina King Miranda, it caused a furor:
The key part is the second paragraph:
Christine Blasey Ford was a year or so behind me. I did not know her personally but I remember her. This incident did happen. Many of us heard a buzz about it indirectly with few specific details. However Christine’s vivid recollection should be more than enough for us to truly, deeply know that the accusation is true.
This would be a game-changer as it alleges that, contemporaneous with the event, a non-trivial number of Ford’s classmates knew about the incident. It would also fly in the face of Ford’s assertion that she never mentioned the incident until she was in marriage counselling in 2012. You might be able to do some hand-waving to explain that…she was allegedly in the company of another young woman who could, conceivably have asked the four drunken boys in the house where her friend was.
The Facebook entry was deleted. And later on King denied actually having any knowledge of the event.
The similar Tweet was deleted.

“Because it served its purpose.” What does that mean?
“In my [Facebook] post, I was empowered and I was sure it probably did [happen],” Miranda told NPR. “I had no idea that I would now have to go to the specifics and defend it before 50 cable channels and have my face spread all over MSNBC news and Twitter.”
Miranda said staff from the Senate Judiciary Committee had reached out to her, something she was not expecting. She said she will not go through with a committee interview if asked.
Miranda says she played soccer with Ford — whom she refers to as Chrissy — in high school and that she continues to support her. Miranda added that despite not knowing specifics of what went on at the party three decades ago, she remembers that there was a “buzz” that went around possibly on a weekend about the party where an alleged incident involving students from her school and Kavanaugh’s took place.
Let us agree that an “incident” between students from Holton Arms and Georgetown Prep is a lot different than an “incident” involving Christine Ford and Brett Kavanaugh.
Immediately, several news outlets grabbed the Facebook story and continued running them for hours after the Facebook post had been pulled and King Miranda had debunked her own post.

The Facebook post cited here has been taken down, supposedly because it has “served its purpose.” She says she was not prepared for the media inquiries she’s gotten and is not sure she’s prepared to pursue the matter further. Sound familiar? https://t.co/EjsnSDABvx

The Roll Call and NBC stories were launched about four hours after the Facebook post was dropped.
Erick Erickson has a very shrewd observation:
Erick isn’t a conspiracist, but he is a very experienced observer of the Democrat media in operation. We have to ask why someone would drop a completely false story and quickly retract it and why major media would run this story as true as much as four hours after it was known to be false. Maybe some other folks were supposed to drop corroborating stories and got cold feet?
If, as I believe, the Ford allegation is nothing more than a cynical political attack designed to try to rally the #MeToo harpies and stampede the GOP members of the Senate Judiciary Committee into treating this like a university Title IX sexual harassment investigation, this is entirely possible. All that is needed to really cloud the waters and require more investigation are more social media claims purporting to have contemporaneous knowledge of event.
Monday is the day scheduled for Ford’s appearance before the Senate committee or for a private interview by staff. What better way to set off another round of delays than by other repressed memories being jogged free. If that happens we’ll know for sure that King Miranda just got her Facebook post out of sync.
I’m on Facebook. Drop by and join the fun there.
