Yesterday, I posted about the ongoing attempt by the left and by assorted Trump haters, some who are billed as conservatives, to take down EPA administrator Scott Pruitt by a series of contrived “ethics” violations. The strategy is to create a storm of what are basically nothingburger instances and then roll the whole bundle into an “ethics nightmare” on the part of Pruitt.
Today two conservative stalwarts entered the scrum on behalf of Pruitt.
.@EPAScottPruitt is likely the bravest and most conservative member of Trump's cabinet. We need him to help @realDonaldTrump drain the regulatory swamp.

This is compelling. Why do Obama and his media cronies want so badly to drive @EPAScottPruitt out of office? @realDonaldTrump is too cagey to be duped and bullied by the Obama groupies. https://t.co/USHqDUDECH

And Jim Inhofe has issued a statement of support:
“Administrator Pruitt has been instrumental in carrying out President Trump’s deregulatory agenda at the EPA,” Inhofe said in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to work with him to restore the EPA to its proper size and scope.”
Two things are unquestioned here. First, Pruitt has been incredibly effective at reining in the EPA’s tendency to overreach and to abuse Americans. Because of that, the left has contrived controversies that have definitely placed Pruitt’s job in jeopardy.
I just hope President Trump and his inner circle have the courage to stand-by Pruitt and help him ride this nonsense out because he has been one of the superstars of the administration.
