Terror Attack Thwarted in San Francisco

The FBI is charging a California man for plotting a Christmas Day terror attack on Pier 39 in San Francisco.

Officials have stopped a man who reportedly stated that “Christmas was the perfect day” for a terror attack in San Francisco and “did not need an escape plan because he was ready to die.”

We’ve learned the FBI has arrested a man by the name of Everitt Aaron Jameson from Modesto. They say he wanted to target Pier 39.

According to FBI documents, Jameson picked out that location because he “had been there before and knew it was a heavily crowded area.” He added that it would be easy to “funnel” people into an area where he could inflict casualties.

Jameson reportedly said he was inspired by the New York terror attack on Oct. 31, when a man drove into a crowd and killed eight people, and the deadly 2015 shooting in San Bernardino.

This is good news.

Having said that, I am always skeptical of these kinds of ballyhooed arrests. Over the years we’ve seen the lion’s share of these actions involving some hapless mope whose terrorist fantasies the FBI actively encouraged. And, all too often, we’ve seen the FBI interviewing actual terrorists and doing nothing until it was time to pick up the bodies.

No matter how this falls out, actual terrorist mastermind or Islamist Walter Mitty, he’s off the street and that’s good.
