BREAKING. Military Transgender Ban Is Official

Back on July 26, President Trump declared that the US military would no longer accept “transgender” applicants. The announcement caught Defense Secretary Mattis and the JCS flatfooted and let to bizarre claims that Trump was so dumb the didn’t know what DoD policy was (apparently those holding this particular point of view never encountered Article II, Section 2 of the US Constitution) and that the military was going to refuse to obey Trump’s directive.

This just in from The Hill:

President Trump signed a presidential memo Friday instructing the Defense Department to stop accepting transgender people who want to enroll in the military.

The memo details Trump’s previous Twitter announcement last month that he would reimplement a ban on transgender people serving in the U.S. military, and officially requests the Pentagon begin to implement the ban.

Trump’s memo bars transgender people from enlisting, but instructs Secretary of Defense James Mattis to further explore how to handle transgender people currently serving in the armed forces.

The memo also orders the Pentagon to stop paying for gender reassignment surgeries, except in cases that are already in progress.

It also requests that the Pentagon develop an implementation plan for the ban by March 23, 2018.

This is pretty much the policy I expected to evolve.

The low hanging fruit, so to speak, is eligibility for enlistment. No one has a constitutional right to enlist and the military has pretty much unfettered power on managing accessions within certain parameters. It the era of the Combat Exclusion Policy, for instance, female enlistments were capped at around 10% because of the limitations on the career fields in which they could serve. Enlistment is already limited by factors such as Body Mass Index, tattoos, dental braces, test scores, high school diploma, etc.

The harder problem is dealing equitably with people who have had the rules changed. Cutting off (hahaha) surgery is a logical first step. Using the need for hormone therapy and counselling to make deployability decisions is next. I would expect that you will see post-surgical transgenders administratively discharged sooner rather than later. If the military refuses to indulge this psychosis and requires troops to be billeted with their own sex, then the voyeur crowd–apparently most military trannies are, like Bradly Manning, male-to-female–will go away.

It is too late to tell if this is an actual victory for sanity of if it is simply a rearguard action on the way to Sodom and Gomorrah. Regardless, it is a victory for common sense and Western Civilization over pig-ignorance and barbarism.
