Yesterday the Anti Defamation League released a statement on yet another wave of bomb threats directed at Jewish Community Centers across the nation. This is the fourth such wave of bomb threats since January 1 and now a total of 69 such threats have been made. To date all of the threats have been hoaxes but inevitably one of these bomb threats is going to be more than a mere threat.
Interestingly, CAIR is suddenly concerned about the bomb threats… go figure.
As a show of support, the Council on American–Islamic Relations offered a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever was responsible.
“It is the duty of American Muslims to offer support to the Jewish community and any minority group targeted in the recent spike in hate crimes nationwide,” CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad said in a statement, adding that Jewish leaders have shown support to Muslim victims of hate crimes. “We hope this reward will aid in the swift apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrators.”
Just moments ago, President Trump made remarks on this spate of anti-Semitic attacks:
Trump: anti-Semitic threats targeting Jews are “a very sad reminder of the work that still must be done to root out hate & prejudice & evil” pic.twitter.com/amGUFjnxw3

A few observations.
First, Trump is never going to deliver inspiring oratory. He seems to have two modes: cheerleader or pedestrian.
Second, he probably missed a good chance here to address some of the whispers of anti-Semitism that have attached themselves to his administration. For instance, he didn’t mention that unlike the last three waves of bomb threats that his administration was taking them seriously and investigating.
Third, he seems genuinely puzzled that the media seems to be going out of its way to attack him. One of the questions asked was by MSNBC’s Craig Melvin:
What a bizarre and grotesque question. Clear up what confusion? That Trump, whose closest adviser, Jared Kushner, and daughter are Jewish, is against bomb threats being phoned into Jewish community centers?
