Earlier this week, courtesy of Wikileaks, it was made known that then-CNN-contributor and current head of the DNC Donna Brazile had, surprise, surprise, used her position at CNN as a way of warning Hillary Clinton about a potentially troublesome question that would come her way at a CNN hosted town hall event. The very fact that Brazile moved from CNN to head the DNC should have been enough of a clue to anyone paying attention that Brazile would help Clinton.
Well, not everyone.
CNN’s Jake Tapper was interviewed on this incident on WMAL’s Mornings on the Mall feature. And he was heartbroken and gobsmacked to find that a lifelong Democrat operative on CNN’s payroll would actually give a Democrat presidential candidate inside information.
One of the hosts, Larry O’Connor, posts the highlights on HotAir
It’s a very, very troubling… look, I have tremendous regard for Donna Brazile. She’s a good person and a nice person and I like her a lot but whatever took place here… and I know I had nothing to do with it… and I know CNN, we were so closely guarding our documents… they weren’t emailed around.
….
My understanding is the email to Donna came from either Roland Martin or someone around Roland Martin.
…
It’s horrifying. Journalistically it’s horrifying and I’m sure it will have an impact on partnering with this organization in the future and I’m sure it will have and effect on… Donna Brazile is no longer with CNN because she’s with the DNC right now, but I’m sure it will have some impact on Donna Brazille.
…
People at CNN take this very, very seriously and to have somebody who does not take it seriously and to have us partner with that person and then they do something completely unethical and share it with Donna Brazile who then shares it with the Clinton campaign… it’s horrifying and very, very upsetting and I can’t condemn it any more than… I condemn it in no uncertain terms, it’s awful.
Look, I’ll take Tapper at his word that he is horrified that this happened. Generally, I like Tapper and I think he does one of the best jobs of being fair to all candidates while holding their feet to the fire. On the other hand, Tapper has been in this business for a while. Is he also surprised that CNBC’s John Harwood wrote a self-fawning email to John Podesta humble bragging about how he put Donald Trump in his place. Or that the Clinton campaign was talking about how the New York Times’s Maggie Haberman could always be relied upon to help them out. Was he shocked by JournoList? Does he think Trump’s difficulties this past week were merely a serendipitous series of events?
I think Tapper is a lot more horrified that this email saw the light of day because the collusion of the media with the Democrat party is simply a fact of life.
